This was the outcome of a meeting in Benin, Edo State on Friday, which had Chief Olu Falae , the Chair of the Secretariat committee leading  four other stalwarts into a tactical meeting  with the Elder statesman.

Announcing the decision of the parley in a media briefing on Sunday in Lagos, Mr Wale Okunniyi, the group head of Secretariat said that the group, presently in its formative stage, has again decided to further reach out to all political groups working in the direction of providing Nigerians with a mega alternative and bring them on board.

Okunniyi further disclosed that the meeting for tactical reasons also slightly adjusted the format of this week consultation into two main sessions. “While the afternoon of Tuesday 7 th April 2009 is now rescheduled for the arrival of delegates and the inaugural session of the Steering /Organising Committee, the morning of Wednesday, 8 th April 2009 is expected to host a close door consultation of eminent leaders of thoughts and top politicians in the country”

Delegates are however expected to depart for their various constituencies after the Wednesday parley to commence mobilisation towards the successful hosting of the summit and mass advocacy for popular electoral reform in the country, the group enthused

The summit secretariat further disclosed that both the Convener of the initiative, Chief Enahoro and the Chair of the secretariat committee, Chief Olu Falae have jointly appealed to all steering /organising committee nominees from the zones and sectors to attend Tuesday meeting as draft proposals on summit modalities /strategy and draft alternative bill on electoral reform among others shall be taken and presented at the Wednesday consultative plenary.

The group finally took a swipe at subtle moves of agent provocateurs and infiltrators sponsored to destabilise the process, stating that its secretariat has since beefed up its intelligence to contain any suspected diabolic moves.

In that connection, the group secretariat has affirmed that attendance at all its consultative meetings shall now strictly be by the convener’s invitation.
