PRESS STATEMENT 5TH APRIL 2009
ONE PARTY DICTATORSHIP IMERATIVE OF MEGA PARTY
The Central Working Committe {CWC} of Conference of Nigeria Political Parites {CNPP} met in Enugu on 4th April 2009 and carefully reviewed the dangerous slide of our fledgling democracy into One Party Dictatorship; consequent upon there is despondency, despair and hopelessness in the land.
CNPP carefully analysed reports from the various states and their exits a national consensus that the Peoples Democratic Party {PDP} led Federal Government has ran out of ideas and thus is becoming desperate to achieve their ignolious objective of ruling and ruining Nigeria for the next 60 years.
We are worried that even the football arena, where we excelled in the past, going by the inefficiency of the PDP led government to recruit credible coach of World Cup class like Felipe Scolaris, Nigeria might not participate in the 2010 World Cup, holding for the first time in Africa.
We are concerned that nothing practical is being done to cushion the high unemployment, the global melt down and its grave consequencies like the collapse of the Naira and fall in oil prices.
It is also disheartening that the little confidence and hope exhibitted by President Umaru Musa Yaradua on assumption of office; had evaporated with his mulilation and outright rejection of the core ingredients of the Electoral Reform Committee {ERC} Report, which could have guaranteed an impartial and truly independent Electoral Commission.
In view of this confusion in the land, CNPP resolved as follows:
1} to endorse in principle and practice the formation of Mega-Party as enunciated by elder-statesman, Paa Anthony Enaharo.
2} calls on all political parties to hold national conventions to brief their members on the imperative of a granite coalition to stop the PDP from misrule and mismanagment of the country.
3} chairman and secretary of all alliance parties to attend the 8th April meeting in Lagos; with the objective to actively participate and contribute in constructing the Mega-Party.
4} that all political parties shall participate in the Ekiti State Governorship re-run; for this a test ground in our effort to defeat out the PDP through the ballot box.
