11th April 2009. Press Release.

LAGOS AC SLAMS PDP OVER MEND REVELATIONS.

The Lagos State chapter of the Action Congress has said that the revelation by the Movement for the Emancipation of Niger Delta (MEND) that the PDP wanted to engage its services to rig the forthcoming elections has proved beyond all reasonable doubt that the PDP is an amoral bunch of desperate manipulators who will stop at nothing in order to realize their inordinate ambitions. The party therefore reiterates its position that the PDP remains a threat to a modern Nigeria and that it must die for Nigerians to start putting right the monumental evil the party still inflicts on the country.

In a release in Lagos, signed by the party’s Lagos State Publicity Secretary of the AC, Joe Igbokwe, Lagos Ac says that it was not shocked by the revelation from MEND about PDP’s demand for them to assist them to steal another election but is rather saddened that while Nigerians are writhing in the throes of PDP’s reckless criminalization of the electoral and governance process of the country, the PDP is planning to violently steal another election. Lagos AC therefore warns that Nigerians must rise up and put an end to the deliberate acts of perfidy being perpetrated by the PDP or else we would have no other country in the next couple of years.

“While all the make-belief about electoral reform is going on, the PDP is recruiting armed groups to steal the next election. When the country is yet to outlive the fallout of the criminal manner the 2003 and 2007 elections were impudently rigged, the PDP is planning another mind-bogging electoral fraud and has been recruiting groups for that nefarious purpose. Even when the nation is yet to overcome the criminal tendency of the PDP to arm illegal groups and sundry criminals for the purpose of the stealing of the 2003 and 2007 elections, which has led to the over-running of the country by armed robbers, kidnappers, political assassins and fraudsters, the PDP has gone of a recruitment binge to recruit newer groups to illegally arm for the 2011 general elections.

“We have often stated it that the problems that have reduced Nigeria to a pitiable cretin in the comity of nations are traceable to the negative role the PDP has come to play in the Nigerian polity these past ten years. That negative role has manifested in the present state of rot, unbridled corruption and electoral fraud and chicanery, which the PDP is gloating in. it has through words and actions shown a worrying unrepentant attitude to Nigerians’ deafening demand for sanity in a badly governed and lawless country like Nigeria. A mark of their unrepentant commitment to deepening Nigeria’s woes is that while they are making pretences to commitment to electoral reforms, they are doing everything humanly possible to frustrate every effort to cleanse the badly messed electoral process. The PDP had encouraging the discredited INEC chairman who had been accredited with conducting the worst election in human history to stay on with the hope of assisting it to steal another election in 2011.

“While we laud the decision of MEND to expose the dirty plans of the PDP, we believe and as a matter of fact, insist that there are many more organizations, most of whom hideous, criminal and illegal the PDP is recruiting presently to ensure that the 2011 elections threads the path of electoral roguery. We call on MEND and all other well-meaning organizations in Nigeria to come together and form an impregnable bulwark against the PDP and its criminal tendency to cheat and rob Nigerians during elections. We are not surprised because the PDP knows that it has no real electoral value except it violently steals the people’s mandate. We however call on Nigerians to ensure that in 2011 no electoral robber is allowed to go home and enjoy his stolen loot as happened in 2003 and 2007. We want Nigerians to learn from what happened in Zimbabwe and Kenya to ensure that the PDP is stopped from inflicting more crimes against the innocent people of Nigeria. We warn the PDP that its end is very much in sight and nothing will stop the PDP from keeping its appointment with the undertakers in 2011.”
