18th April 2009 Press Release.
“EKITI PDP IS DEAD AND BURIED”, SAYS LAGOS AC.
The Lagos State chapter of the Action Congress has said that all things being equal, the Ekiti State election re-run, scheduled to hold next Saturday will be give a landslide victory to the AC and its candidate, Dr. Kayode Fayemi. The party said this position is informed by the prevailing political situation in Ekiti State, as evident by the open support each of the candidates enjoy as the re-run approaches.
In a release in Lagos, signed by the party’s Lagos State Publicity Secretary of the AC, Joe Igbokwe, the party says that only a miracle can save the PDP from a disastrous defeat in that election and that the PDP has seen the handwriting on the wall. It advises the PDP to throw in the towel and not attempt to cause confusion, as it has lately resorted to.
“With the frenzied way members of the PDP are decamping to the AC in Ekiti State, it is apparent that the PDP is finished in Ekiti State, which is why they have resorted to the most absurd spate of misinformation so as to cause mischief in Ekiti State. We wonder where they locate their optimism that Ekiti people will return them when their camp kept depleting by the day and the AC camp kept swelling with high profile decampment from the PDP to the AC.
“There is no hope that the PDP is hanging on the hope that they would be availed of the irresponsible use of soldiers and mobile policemen to frighten away the people and steal theor votes but it should be apparent to them that the good people of Ekiti State are ever prepared and ready to guard their votes, no matter the degree of violence and force the PDP employs to steal their mandate. the desperation and ferocity with which the PDP canvases for the deployment of soldiers in a bye election in 64 wards have sold them out as a fluke, a mere gathering of election robbers that cannot win the people’s votes through a free and fair election.
“We want to assure the PDP that as Nigeria continues to advance in the art of democracy, its tricks and guiles are running out and it would soon be exposed for what it is; a mere shell of remorseless manipulators that do not command the respect and mandate of the Nigerian people. The Ekiti bye-election would be used to pass this important to the PDP that gone are the days it will continue to rape and plunder Nigeria on the basis of stolen election mandates.
“Lagos AC urges the good people of Ekiti State to use the bye-election to teach the PDP the last lesson on how not to impose themselves on an educated and enlightened citizenry. Ekiti people know very well the misadventure into reactionary politics in 2003 was not through their willing votes but through the fraudulent manipulations of the PDP. Nothing offers them a better opportunity to throw away the PDP impostors and their negative forces than the coming bye-election. Already, they are showing these in the spate of public rejection they have shown Oni and his rag-tag PDP opportunists. We want them to go out and vote for their final liberation from the hands of desperadoes and political mercenaries who have been forcefully launched on the South West since 2003.
“We want the people of Ekiti State to remains steadfast, resilient and consistent against the evil forces of darkness, mindless corruption and election rigging who are on a futile mission to steal their mandates for their personal aggrandizement. We want them to go our fearlessly and give the final quit notice to the PDP colonialists on April 25, 2009 and thus free their state from the hands of political rapists.”
