“PDP HAS CHANGED NIGERIA FOR THE WORSE”, LAGOS AC INSISTS.
The Lagos State chapter of the Action Congress has lampooned the PDP for its self-flattering contention at its on-going convention that it has changed. The party says that from all indications, the PDP has changed for the worse, which is reflected in the sordid and parlous state of the country under PDP’s watch for the past ten years.
In a release in Lagos, signed by the party’s Lagos State Publicity Secretary of the AC, Joe Igbokwe, Lagos AC said that even as the PDP refused to state the context of the change it is touting, Nigerians know that with the worsening condition of the country as well as the continued tendency of the PDP to continue its ruinous politics that has brought Nigeria to its knees, the PDP has changed for the worse. It restated its belief that Nigeria needs the death of the PDP for it to make any meaningful progress as a country.
“With the deliberate corruption of the country’s electoral process, with the sole aim of criminally empowering the PDP against any other party in Nigeria, it is obvious that the PDP is mocking itself when it states that it has changed. We dare ask where the change of the PDP is reflected in its conduct and the governance of the country, which has become one hell of a charade. Is the change of PDP reflected in the disappearing power situation where the country is being forced to live without electricity supply for most parts of the year? Is the change reflected in the infrastructural collapse that has riddled all the country’s infrastructures since the PDP misgovernance happened ten years ago?
“Is the change in PDP reflected in the worsening insecurity all over Nigeria, which has reduced Nigeria to a state of nature where life is brutish, short and nasty while the PDP and its members make merry with resources that would have been used to safeguard the lives and properties of Nigerians? Is the change in the PDP reflected in the maddening rate of corruption that eats away the lives of Nigerians while the members of the PDP grow fat with stolen wealth from the Nigerian state? Is the change reflected in the mismanaged economic regime that has pauperized Nigerians, deprived them of their means of livelihood and deepened the vicious circle of poverty in a well-endowed country like ours? Is the change reflected in the state of total unemployment, job insecurity, chaos and bedlam that rules the Nigerian social sector?
“Is the change the PDP is touting about reflected in the Niger Delta where a raging tempest the PDP ignited as soon as it happened on its criminal plan to dominate the Nigerian politics? Is the change in the PDP reflected in the pre-eminent position armed robbery, organized crime, kidnapping, political killings, contract killings, 419, cultism, prostitution and other forms of criminal acts have overwhelmed the country since 1999? Is the change reflected in collapsed roads, discarded railways, abandoned schools, malfunctioning health centers and other evidences of mammoth collapse liter the country since PDP came in 1999? Is the change reflected in PDP’s deliberate corruption of the electoral system so as to ensure it accesses power only through electoral fraud? Is it in its present hide-and-seek with the electoral system, to the extent that it has deliberately refused to do away with the vessel of electoral fraud, called Maurice Iwu because it is planning to use him for further dirty electoral roles?
“Lagos AC, together with the mass of highly disenchanted, angry and robbed Nigerians, can go on and on with a litany of woes, which the unfortunate curse, called the PDP has inflicted Nigeria in the last ten years. But the totality of the failure of the PDP is its shameless refusal to admit that it has led Nigeria to become a cretin in the comity of nations, ridiculed and ignored in serious international issues.
“We know that in its make-up, the PDP and the charlatans that populate it, are for obvious reasons, beyond reform. They are remorseless and unapologetic for the criminal manner they have raided and destroyed Nigeria’s present and its future.
“Curiously, it is only the thin cult of profiteers that run PDP and who are responsible for the terrible shrift Nigeria has suffered in ten years that are flattering themselves that the PDP has changed. But it is apt to ask; change for the better or for the worse? Let the PDP provide this missing link although it is incapable of doing an honest self-assessment of itself. If it ever does, it will find out that PDP remains that most loathed and most culpable institution in Nigeria today. In fact, all Nigerians predicate the improvement in the parlous and decayed state of the country on the final death of the PDP. We believe that sooner or later, this will come to pass.”
