MEGA PARTY: ANOTHER PLOT FROM THE PRESIDENCY UNCOVERED
The secretariat of the Summit Group, mobilising political leaders for the formation of a granite movement otherwise known as mega party, has uncovered the deeply contrived plot of the Nigerian presidency working in tandem with the leadership of the PDP and agents in other formations especially some mushrooms/one man political parties to discredit the ongoing plans of well-meaning political leaders under the leadership of Elder statesman Anthony Enahoro to engage the anti peoples’ policies of the ruling oligarchy.
We wish to state categorically that the presidency under Mr Umoru Yar’ adua has recruited some hatchet men and political jobbers, using its anti graft ace as bait. These politicians have been given the directive to ensure that president Yar’ adua is returned at all cost for the second term irrespective of their party affiliations. This team, an underground hatchet clique, is now expected to do anything under the sun to deliver the presidency.
Summit Group can authoritatively confirm the involvement of a serving governor in one of the northern states, a top political schemer from the southwest, the chairman of a leading political party in the country, a former presidential candidate from the North, some Chairmen of mushrooms/one man political parties among others in this surreptitious conspiracy against the Nigerian people
There are already existing evidences of this thickening plot. These include a sinister attempt to set up a parallel process of forming a mega party to confuse Nigerians and create the ground for Yar adua second term. This team was put together and fully briefed as far back as January 2009 notwithstanding the lip ban of second term campaigners by president Yar adua during PDP convention yesterday in Abuja. Other mercenary activities also carried out by these jobbers is the latest preposterous call by the coordinators/undertakers of some mush rooms parties, who essentially feed and survive on grants from the INEC, for a ‘mega revolution’(whatever that means) instead of the formation a mega party proposed by eminent national leaders.
We condemn in strong terms the bastardisation of the word ‘revolution’ by these characters, who have been briefed and enlisted to promote for president Yar adua second term agenda by proxy; pretending to be campaigning for a northern governor in ANPP, who serves as their sources of funding. What these pawns do not know about revolution is that except there is first and foremost a formidable platform to serve as the revolutionary vanguard, a revolutionary movement will turn anarchical and counterproductive. Therefore, the revolutionary party or platform is the first imperative of any real revolution in order to harness the outcome and fallout of every movement of the people.
Summit Group is also miffed that these conspirators could have the effrontery to advise the Nigerian people against a rainbow coalition or mega party due to what they term funding or money inhibition. If they are indeed true revolutionaries or have faith in what they called ‘mega revolution’ at their Benin meeting, they should have been well informed that the faith of the people and their popular embrace of the programmes of every party is at the root of the resources of every change movement and not sloganeering or mere ideas.
Finally, we wish to warn these confusionists in various political formations and their surrogates, who have been meeting under the dubious aegis of Forum for National Chairmen of Political Parties because of pecuniary promptings by an ANPP Governor working by proxy for President Yar’ adua second term, to immediately desist from the divisive ventures of discrediting the popular movement to recover the country from political bandits.
