October 25 , 2007

PRESS RELEASE

VOTING RIGHTS AND REPRESENTATION FOR NIGERIANS IN THE INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITY
(ANAC RESOLUTION 101)

As the Honorable members of the ANAC Board of Trustees and State Chapter Chairmen are preparing to meet and consider the necessary steps to put pressure on the Nigerian National Assembly, and the government of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to adopt ANAC Resolutions 101, The Voting Rights and Representation of Nigerians in the International Community Act. We call on all members, delegates, all members of the International community to call their representative, State Trustees, State Chairmen,
ANAC Member Services as well as members of the House of Assembly of Nigeria, Nigerian Senate Members, top government officials in the Federal Government of Nigeria to make their voice known on this very important issue.

A short brief and Update for those who may not no the history of the ANAC Resolution 101. On November 19, 2005, All Nigerian American Congress (ANAC) held its first inaugural congressional session with delegates representing all Nigerian Communities in States across USA in Washington DC USA, Chaired by a representative of the then President of Nigerian, Olusegun Obasanjo, US Congressman Donald Payne and other dignitaries in attendance. ANAC successfully passed the ANAC Resolution 101, sponsored by Dr. Bright Aregs (Delegate ANAC California, Dr. Martin Okafor, Trustees and Chairman, ANAC Georgia, Dr. Peter Agho, Trustee
ANAC, New York) calling for the rights of Nigerians in the International Community (excess of 20million persons) to be represented in the Nigerian Senate, and House of Representative (3 Senates Seats, 6 House of Reps). The leadership of ANAC a conglomerate organization that represents the interest of all Nigerians in the International Community and the United States began to engage the Nigerian law making body to consider this request. Since after the Election of 2007 in Nigeria, ANAC have supported the Court matter pending before the Nigerian Judiciary against INEC, seeking to grant the rights as delineated in the Nigerian Constitution to all Nigerians in the International Community to vote in Nigerian Elections, as led by our honorable ANAC Trustees for North Carolina and Chairman of our Social Development Committee, a Vice President Candidate under the New Democrat Party, Honorable Akeem Bello.

This is a struggle of unique epic proportion. You have to be a Nigerian living in the International community to know the pain and humiliation of the unending failures of the Nigerian Society and yet feels helpless in making your voice heard. Yet your hard earn dollars contribute no less than 5 billion dollars to the annual economy of Nigeria, much more than many Nigerian state contributes. ANAC is stepping up consultations and efforts to urge the present government of President Shehu Yar'Adua to request a floor debate in the Nigerian National Assembly and commence a public awareness campaign among the Nigerian Citizenry. We need all the inputs and support from everyone in the Nigerian International Community as we embark on this journey. Please contact ANAC at memberservices@anacweb.org, or call your ANAC State Chairman, Trustees, or State Delegate to register your comments. A delegation of ANAC is scheduled to depart for Nigeria to commence, Television, Radio, University Events to bring public awareness to this struggle. With the State of Nigeria today, 47 years after independence from Britain, with vast mineral wealth, high level of educated nationals, poverty level in mass populace barely better than the poorest nations of the world, over 20 million (and rising) of her bright sons and daughters fleeing to seek lively hood in every part of the world, corruption still entrenched, unable to provide regular electricity and water to her populace, security, law and order so poor, it makes the joy of living in Nigeria virtually none existence. You will agree that a clear voice from Nigerians outside Nigeria, in the governance and determination of our homeland is certainly one of the most hopeful resources yet to be exploited in the puzzle of Nigeria's lack of answers.

PLEASE COME JOIN OUR STRUGGLE FOR THE NIGERIA. JOIN OUR DEBATES, TOWN HALL MEETINGS. LETS MAKE OUR VOICES KNOW TO NIGERIANS EVERYWHERE. SUPPORT OUR LAWSUIT AGAINST INEC FOR DEPRIVING US OUR CONSTITUTIONALLY
GUARANTEED VOTING RIGHTS. JOIN OUR REQUEST FOR REPRESENTATION IN THE NIGERIAN SENATE AND HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY. SAVE OUR HOMELAND, IF WE DON'T DO NOT SPEAK NOW AND MAKE OUR VOICE HEARD, WE WOULD REMAIN SOUNDS OF
SILENCE.
