LAGOS AC CELEBRATES GANI AT 71.
On the occasion of his 71 st birthday, the Lagos State chapter of the Action Congress has felicitated with the erudite human rights crusader and fighter for democratic freedom, Chief Gani Fawehinmi. The party says that Gani has, through dint of enormous personal sacrifice and devotion to the cause of defending peoples’ rights, become a redoubtable institution and a landmark for our country, Nigeria.
In a release in Lagos, signed by the party’s Lagos State Publicity Secretary, Joe Igbokwe, Lagos AC says that it is hard to find an alternative to Gani, which is why it prays that God would guide and protect the famed activist and grant him many more years of service to humanity.
“We cannot describe the person of Gani but his works and impeccable service to humanity describes him best. He remains a lodestar and an irrepressible rebuke to bad governance, impunity and institutional corruption, which have shacked the capacity of the country to realize its potentials. Gani has come to epitomize the highest value in humanity. He has become an epitome of selfless service and devotion to the noble virtues of mankind. Gani has become a shinning light in the darkening plain that Nigeria has become and as the forces of evil and darkness threatens to overwhelm the entire nation, Gani has been strident in fighting this encircling gloom.
“Gani’s seventy-one years on this planet have been totally devoted to the service of others and the advancement of the cause of humanity. He has been a terror to the unending strings of bad government, which has afflicted the country. He has been a hope for the poor and downtrodden and has put his life on the line several times in the bloody history of our national evolution to strengthen the interests and rights of the ordinary Nigerians. Gani has not quivered or wavered in picking up the gauntlet to tackle the predilection of successive governments at various levels to trample and violate the rights of the ordinary Nigerians and for this devoted life to common service, Nigerians have acclaimed him as the leading light in the fight for freedom.
“As Gani battles ill-health, it is the prayer of the Lagos State AC and millions of other Nigerians that he comes out victorious so as to continue his battle for human freedom. Our prayers and our love go to Gani, at this moment of indisposition and we fervently pray that God will heal him of his ill-health. We pray that God may grant him many more years of service to mankind and the requisite good health to continue the important struggle for the advancement of peoples’ rights and democratic freedom in Nigeria.
