28th April 2009. Press Release.

LAGOS AC WARNS THE PRESIDENCY, PDP AND INEC AGAINST MANIPULATING EKITI RE-RUN RESULTS.

As the instigated deadlock over the Ekiti re-run election lingers, the Lagos State chapter of the AC has warned the presidency, INEC and the PDP not to toy with the idea that through a deep-layered orchestrated plan, the people of Ekiti and indeed Nigerians will come to accept the forged results from Ido Osi and use it as a basis to determine who governs Ekiti State. The party reiterated its position that having been frustrated from cooking and announcing a fake result, the PDP should give up in their crooked and very shameful game and accept defeat.

In a release in Lagos, signed by the Lagos State Publicity Secretary of the AC, Joe Igbokwe, Lagos AC says that it is not oblivious of the desperate moves by these forces to find ways of accommodating a fraudulent result, cooked in Ido Osi, after it had became evident that their candidate has lost the re-run. It however warned that such naked act of impunity and outright fraud would signal the end of this faltering democracy.

“From the meeting held by the war cabinet of the PDP made up of the presidency, the officials of the national assembly, the security organs and INEC, it was apparent that the main agenda was not to do justice to a clear and apparent case but to find dubious ways of accommodating the fraudulent results from Ido Osi. We wonder why they cannot have the straight face to announce the results of Ido Osi, if they feel they are genuine results. We wonder why the announcement of results was suddenly stopped so as to afford the forces of evil and darkness to shamefully inject a fraudulent result, which is the sum of the hare-brained PDP crooked means of working to the question from the answer.

“Lagos AC states that from credible results on ground, Dr. Fayemi and Mr. Segun Oni are not running neck-to-neck, as the INEC chairman erroneously posited yesterday. We want to sound it very clear that if Iwu thinks that the forged results from Ido Osi would form of any credible result in Ekiti, then he should be fooling himself and the marauders in the PDP. We shall fight such absurd mockery, the people of Ekiti will fight it and all Nigerians will fight it. We re-state that from credible results on ground, Dr. Fayemi is in very clear lead with 12,000 votes and having secured the needed constitutional requirement to be declared governor and having been overwhelmingly endorsed by Ekiti people, he should have his mandate handed over to him.

“We want Nigerians to stand resolute and insist that this daylight robbery should not stand. Let the Ekiti show of fame be the needed elixir to deal with these irreverent criminals who have sworn to ensure that the country’s electoral system remains eternally corrupt so that they would continue to reap so bountifully while Nigeria withers under their corrupt grips. We urge Nigerians to gear up and defend democracy. We urge Nigerians to support the present agitation of Ekiti people and draw from the recent lessons from Kenya and Zimbabwe to insist that the right thing, and only the right thing, should be done on the Ekiti re-run election. We salute the resoluteness of the ordinary people of Ekiti people and we assure them that they stand at the very doorsteps of a new dawn that cannot be taken for granted as the PDP is wont to do.”
