Gov Orji to build 17 mosques in Abia
The attention of the Human Rights, Justice and Peace Foundation [HRJPF]
has been drawn to clandestine moves by the Abia State Government led Mr.
T.A. Orji to build mosques in each of the 17 local government areas of the
state.
Solid information available to us revealed that the move is part of the
nefarious plans by the Orji-led administration to introduce the
controversial Sharia legal system in his ill-fated state.
Having lost the supports of the vast majority of Abia people, resulting
mainly from his abysmal failure to judiciously use his people’s
resources for their common good; Governor Orji opted to seek the support
of the Islamic world by courting them.
It is regrettable that Orji who swore to uphold the Constitution of the
Federal Republic of Nigeria would, rather address the fundamental problems
of hunger amidst plenty, continued infrastructural decay, mass illiteracy,
student cultism, armed robbery and kidnapping for ransom/rituals that have
characterized the state since his emergence; be hell bent on foisting on
his Christian-dominated people the Sharia legal system. This is capable of
fuelling the problems of the ill-fated state.
While condemning this evil plot in its entirety, the HRJPF calls on Abia
people to resist, through non-violent means the introduction of the Sharia
legal system in the state.
