12th May 2009. Press Release.

“YOUR CHEAP ENDORSEMENT OF ELECTORAL FRAUD WILL NOT SAVE YOU IN 2011”, LAGOS AC TELLS GOVERNOR ORJI.

The Lagos State chapter of the Action Congress has come down hard on the Governor of Abia State, Chief Theodore Orji for lending a discredited support to the PDP and INEC’s shameful rigging of Ekiti re-run elections. The party said that Orji is showing himself as a man that lacks principles who still feels indebted to the fraudulent leadership of INEC for his mandate.

In a release in Lagos, signed by the party’s Lagos State Publicity Secretary of the AC, Joe Igbokwe, the party said it would be disastrous to the image of the PPA if such desperadoes as Orji represent the image of the party. It says it is waiting for the PPA to refute the impression Orji gave that he was speaking for the PPA in his attempt to cozy up to the fountains of electoral fraud for selfish purposes.

“It is strange that it is Orji that came up to lend his support to the widely condemned naked show of electoral perfidy with which INEC stole the mandate of Ekiti people for the PDP. We are not so eager to believe that Orji is speaking for the PPA, whose leadership was one with Nigerians in condemning the daylight electoral robbery in Ekiti State. We know that it was the Ekiti State Chairman of the PPA that blew the whistle on the unholy pressure that was piled on the Resident Electoral Commissioner by the Vice President to include fake results from Ido Osi in the overall results. We are surprised that Governor Orji, in thinking that it is better to cozy up to wielders of rotten porridge, is now the one to come out to endorse that naked fraud with the hope that such will deepen and benefit people like him.

“We are not in doubt that Orji, by that naïve endorsement of brazen electoral fraud, is hoping to clear his way to 2011 through the corrupt hands of the remorseless INEC leadership. By this, he doesn’t want his performance to decide his fate with Abia people. In his shortsightedness, he is refusing to observe that the space is closing in the audacious stealers of people’s mandates with whom he now shares a fatal attraction and for whom he is now oozing such shameless endorsements.

“While we had so far, refused to believe the campaign message of Abia PDP that Orji is a man that lacks conviction and character and who should not be trusted with public office, we see his recent cheap attempt to eat from the rotten hands of discredited emperors as a veiled effort to confirm the position of Abia PDP. It is even more pathetic that Orji is doing the dirty jobs of a PDP, which has not minced words in its determination to see him out of office. We hope he is not being clever by half by hoping he would steal his way into their rotten barn by fawning for them. We hope he is not offering comfort to electoral riggers so as to get another term, in the belief of most of the parodists that now pass for Nigerian politicians, that the end justifies the means.

“Lagos AC wants to assure Orji and his principals, either in PDP and INEC that the AC and other decent Nigerians who are so scandalized by the brazen stealing of the Ekiti governorship will not allow that act by shameless political maggots to whom Orji has elected to become choice fawner, to go just like that. We want to assure them that the noose is fast closing on the purveyors of electoral fraud who abound in great number in the present INEC, the type Orji hopes to continue benefiting from and the type that flowers the corrupt strength of the PDP. Let Orji know that the corrupt hands of INEC will not help him in 2011 but only his performance in office will do that. His cheap efforts to lend his discredited support for the ultra-corrupt INEC leadership will not avail him of another chance to rule Abia in 2011.”
