MICHAEL JACKSON IS ALIVE IN NIGERIA AT THE SILVERBIRD GALLERIA
Lagos, Nigeria (June 28th 2009)
As with the rest of the world, Nigeria, the most populous black nation
in the world is mourning the loss of the great music icon Michael
Jackson. From CEOS who grew up with Michael's music to the
entertainment driven youth who have drawn influence from the King of
Pop to fuel the ongoing culture revolution in urban Nigeria. Everyone
is distraught and seeking a medium to grieve. Therefore the Silverbird
Galleria, Nigeria's foremost multi-purpose cineplex and youth
entertainment and shopping center is declaring a month long period of
mourning to Michael Jackson and dedicating the Galleria as the
Official Nigeria Michael Jackson Tribute Center.
HIGHLIGHTS INCLUDE
-- Five 40-by-10 ft banners draping from top to bottom. Three in the
front of the building which can be seen from a distance by commuters
driving along the busy Ahmadu Bello Way in Victoria Island and two
inside the mall.
-- A 103 inch plasma screen TV which is showing Michael Jackson video
and concerts. Young children have been seen trying to copy MJ dance
moves in front of the screen. This plasma screen will serve as a
window for fans to watch the funeral live.
-- A Michael Jackson Impersonator and several dance teams doing MJ
dance routine renditions
-- On Thursday July 2nd the monthly 'Thank God First Thursday Event'
which showcases upcoming youth talents including street dance teams,
unsigned rappers and singers will be dedicated to all things Michael
Jackson. Nigeria's top musicians and celebrities will also be doing MJ
tribute performances.
-- A condolence register which has already been signed by over 500
people. As more fans come in, more registers will be opened. At the
end of this mourning period the condolence register will be taken to
the Jackson Family as a message of Nigeria's love for Michael Jackson.
-- A WALK OF FAME which will have marble slabs dedicated to Michael
Jackson and others and will include NIgerian music icons like FELA,
SONNY OKOSUNS, OLOVER de COQUE, STEVE RHODES etc
All this and much more as we identify the need for fans to find a
place to express their grief and celebrate the life of this great
icon, Michael Jackson.
Silverbird is an entertainment company founded by Ben Murray-Bruce who
is a fan of Michael Jackson's and drew inspiration from the Jacksons
when he started the company.
