US based Nigerians Introduces Cloud-Based Television Network; Viewers Can Interact with Their Television and Order Products with Their Remotes!

GRAND TERRACE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--After two years in development, Saigant Technologies, Inc. founded by two Nigerians, today unveils their cloud-based television network under the trade name DIFRON™. DIFRON™ (pronounced Die-fron) stands for direct from the internet.

DIFRON™ is an internet device designed to pull content from the internet cloud, aggregate it and display the video on television as channels. Consumers will be able to watch millions of free programs from any corner of the globe, supported by advertisements, or pay for premium content if they want.

According to Toyin Dawodu, CEO of Saigant, “The average television viewer watches only 5-10 channels on a regular basis, but is forced to subscribe to 100 channels and pay $50-$100 for programs she may never watch."

All programs in the DIFRON™ network are delivered through a broadband direct to the television. Viewers now have a choice on whether or not to subscribe to monthly cable services. Consumers will pay a onetime purchase price of between $199-299 for the set top box.

Dawodu predicted the current wave of cloud computing in an interview he gave to PC World 10 years ago. He said then, "The future of applications is migrating to the Web. No need to upgrade. No need to buy any software. It'll be upgraded all the time through the Web site."

Saigant Technologies, Inc. is a leader in embedded software technology and creation of smart devices, having unveiled their first product, Virtual Desk in 1999, and is now leading a revolution in the cable and television industry. Dawodu insists that his goal is to “create a level playing field where television programming is available to anyone with content to share with the world.”

“The current arrangement whereby a few rich corporations control access to the television is an outdated model,” says Dawodu. “The DIFRON™ network is designed to be built by the people, for the people where both individuals and corporate bodies have the same opportunities to create viable programming for the television audience.”

With DIFRON™ patent pending technology, viewers will be able to interact with their television in a true two-way communication, with the ability to conduct live searches for local, national and world content for news and entertainment. They can also search for local or national providers of specific products and/or services.

Says Toyin, “Viewers will have true local news on their television, not regional news disguised as local news.”

According to Noah Awoniyi, CTO and the chief designer, “The current world TV arrangement is based on what the cable company thinks you should watch at any particular time of the day. Our goal is to deliver an alternative where the viewer can grab content from the internet cloud based on their desire. Since the content is readily available, or will be in the future, consumers will not be compelled to have to rush home to watch or remember to record any program. They can just DIFRON™ it straight from the cloud, sit back and enjoy in their living room.”

The DIFRON™ network is set to launch in the last quarter of 2009. Broadcasters and content producers can log on to www.DIFRON.com to register and create program specific channels. Consumers can also register to create their own channels and reserve their own DIFRON™ set boxes.

According to Dawodu, the DIFRON™ network will be based on API supported technology that allows all internet television and radio channels to be easily cataloged and accessible for viewing on any television set. Our model is designed to provide true boundary-less access to television programs and give broadcasters the opportunity to monetize content that may have been previously locked out of television or reach a greater number of audience worldwide.
