LAGOS AC ADVISES FG’S TO GO TO COURT OVER LAGOS COUNCILS.

The Lagos State chapter of the Action Congress has advised the PDP and the federal government to go to back to the Supreme Court over the Lagos Council Development Areas instead of thinking they can cow Lagos to adopt their selfish and rabid political interests. The party took this decision in view of the continued insistence of the Yar’Adua’s government that Lagos should dissolve the LCDAs or face the wrath of the Yar’Adua’s government.

In a release in Lagos, signed by the Lagos State Publicity Secretary of the AC, Joe Igbokwe, Lagos AC said that the PDP and the Yar’Adua government are clearly out to pursue a selfish political interest in Lagos in this renewed matter as the LCDA issue has been satisfactorily settled by the Supreme Court. It says that the present issuance of threats by the PDP and Yar’Adua over LCDAS will not resolve anything as it is founded on an illegal attempt to forcefully promote the selfish interests of the PDP.

“We are sure that Yar’Adua government knows the true position of the Supreme Court on the LCDAs, which is why it is now fantasizing on the employment of force to compel Lagos to conform to its narrow and very ulterior political position. We state that its deferment to its Attorney General and members of the PDP on this issue is not only warped and mischievous but an attempt to embrace the same lawless fiat with which its predecessor launched a bizarre series of outlawry on the nation as its desire for perpetuation thickened. We wonder what kind of advice could issue from a fellow like Aandoakaa, who is a willing tool in the hands of his principal and the PDP.

“We are even more convinced of the selfish and wicked intent of the Yar’Adua government and the PDP in this latest gamble by the fact that some PDP states are presently running their development councils and indeed had elections into them but Yar’Adua and Andoakaa are interested only in Lagos because they desperately want to stop the well-lauded speed with which the present Lagos State Government is developing Lagos and see ways of forcefully conscripting Lagos to its vassal states. We promise them that they will fail woefully in this new negative venture.

“Nigerians are not surprised that in its mischief, Yar’Adua’s regime has elevated its Attorney general who is its appointee and is notorious for partisan mischief to favour the PDP, to a higher court over the Supreme Court. This is because the last time the PDP and the erstwhile Obasanjo government went to the Supreme Court seeking for ‘clarification’ over the same issue, the Supreme Court turned it back with the stern warning that its judgment needs no such further clarification because it was written in simple English. That Yar’Adua’s government now seeks such clarification from its appointee clearly exposes that they see themselves as the president of the PDP and would do just anything to satisfy their base and selfish desires. They know the legal options open to them and are not just taking it because they know their present moves are illegal and we challenge the country’s judiciary to ensure that whoever is responsible for the present gamble with the law are eventually punished.

“Lagos AC wants to assure the good people of Lagos State to remain calm because they have a competent government in place in Lagos and that the Fashola government would not submit to the empty threats of political speculators who want to pull Lagos down their level. We want to assure them that while the mischievous interests in Lagos LCDAs when several PDP states are running their so-called development centers is not only a devilish attempt to distract the present fast-paced government but to gain whatever is the selfish interests of the people that are fuelling it.

“We assure that while we are ready for dialogue, we would not submit to any politically-motivated threats masked in the dubious foil of the ‘laws of the country’ as Andoakaa is wont to ascribe to his many narrow and selfish political interests.”
