LAGOS AC CALLS FOR MASSIVE VOTES FOR ADETUNMBI.
The Lagos State chapter of the Action Congress has called for total support for the AC candidate for the re-run election in Ekiti North senatorial district, Mr. Olubunmi Adetunmbi during the re-run election. The party said that by so doing, the good people of Ekiti State would send a message to the impostors in power in the state presently that their days of usurpation is over.
In a release in Lagos, signed by the party’s Lagos State Publicity Secretary, Joe Igbokwe, Lagos AC says that even with the expectation of a free and fair election in Nigeria under the PDP waning by the day, it expects the people of Ekiti North to exercise their traditional bravery against the electoral rouges that have been unleashed on them since 2003 and vote Adetunmbi in the re-run polls.
“When we consider the manner the votes of the people of Ekiti and indeed the South West have been brazenly manipulated since violent electoral misconduct and open rigging was adopted by the PDP in 2003, the people of Ekiti North may give up hope of their votes counting in this crucial electoral re-run. When we consider the bizarre manner the mandate of Dr. Kayode Fayemi was stolen in 2007 and even the more shameless and open manner the results of the recent re-run in Ekiti State was doctored before the entire world, to return an impostor to power, we foresee the loss of faith in future elections in Nigeria.
“Lagos AC is however encouraged that the people of Ekiti were able to openly and proudly show their aversion to electoral fraud in the infamous re-run exercise through standing down the threats and desperate manner the PDP, the presidency, the police and INEC employed to steal that governorship for their puppet. We see hope that with added effort, Nigerians will get to free themselves from the man-made demons that have progressively ate up our country in the last ten years.
“It is in the light of this prospect that Lagos AC therefore calls on all voters in Ekiti North to come out en mass and vote for Adetunmbi in the scheduled re-run election and ensure that the usurper does not steal his way back to power again. We urge all citizens of Ekiti North senatorial district to see the light of liberation that came with the throwing out of two PDP senators for electoral fraud in Ekiti State as holding the prospect for the eventual triumph of truth over fraudulent electoral practice in Ekiti State. We urge them all to affirm the well-known fact that Ekiti people voted for the AC in 2007, in April 2009 tragic re-run polls and will still do so in any other election.
“Lagos AC urges the people of Ekiti North not to be disillusioned by the do or die attitude of the PDP to power but come out to state firmly that electoral fraud must cease to determine who governs the people but their votes. We assure them that in its guiding principle of one-man-one-vote, the AC is determined to put a stop to the shameful rigging of elections in Nigeria and that Ekiti remains a testing ground for that mission.
“Once again, we call on all eligible voters in Ekiti North senatorial district to come out en mass and vote for Olubunmi Adetunmbi during the re-run elections and solidly guard their votes against irreverent and unrepentant vote robbers who have besmeared the country’s political history with unrestrained electoral felony.”
