Rebranding Nigeria
The Honourable Minister of Information and Communications, Professor Dora Akunyili will flag –off the National Re-branding Campaign in Uyo, the Akwa –Ibom State capital on Friday, August 28 th, 2009. In the entourage of the Minister is the Minister of Niger Delta, Chief Ufot Ekaete, all Members of the National Assembly of Akwa-Ibom State indigene, members of the Re-branding Committee of Akwa-Ibom State origin and some staff of the Ministry of Information and Communications.
Professor Akunyili and her team will pay courtesy call on His Excellency, Mr. Godswill Akpabio in Government House, Uyo by 10.00 a.m. on Friday. This will be followed by a courtesy call on the Chairman of Akwa-Ibom State Council of Chiefs by 11.am before proceeding to Ibom Town Hall, Uyo for the Re-branding Town Hall Meeting slated for 12 noon.
The Uyo interface will be followed by LGA Town Hall Meeting at Ikot Ekpene Council Hall in Ikot Ekpene Local Government Area on the same day.
The meetings provide the Minister and her team the opportunity to shed more light on the Re-branding Campaign. The meetings also serve as platforms for the Ministers and the lawmakers representing Akwa- Ibom State to officially give account of their stewardships to the people.
The Town Hall Meetings are in line with Professor Akunyili’s promise to periodically interface with the people on the campaign across the 36 states of the federation.
Before the Akwa -Ibom outing, the Re-branding project had been launched in Bauchi, Owerri and Akure respectively!
