African Cities Invited To Apply For The Hosting Of The Panafrican Telecommunications Museum (PATM)
We the African Council for Arts & Culture (AFAC) are a registered Panafrican cultural development organisation registered in Germany.
To help commemorate the development of telecommunications in Africa, we are promoting the PAN AFRICAN TELECOMMUNICATIONS MUSEUM (PATM). This museum will showcase the development of wireless communication in Africa from the talking drum to the latest device.
There shall also be permanent and temporary exhibitions with crowd-pulling effects in the museum facilities.
Stakeholders of the African Information and Communications Technology(ICT) who become members of the Pan African Telecommunications Museum will have space to exhibit their brands for as long as they remain members.
African cities of the Member States of the African Union are invited to apply for the hosting of the Museum.
A Working Group/Screening Team will visit each confirmed candidate city and report to the Executive Committee and the Board. Each Candidate City will be invited by a special meeting of the Executive Committee and the Board to defend its application. Based on the report of the Screening Team and the arguments of the representatives of the Candidate Cities, the Board and Executive Committee will select the best candidate.
Apart from the permanent headquarters, the Museum will also be operating other facilities. If one candidate misses out on the headquarters, it could be recommended for the other facilities.
African Council for Arts and Culture (AFCAC) is a secular equal opportunities organization and approaches all applicants, big or small, equally.
Smaller towns and cities are encouraged to apply as the Museum, borrowing from the concepts of the Guggenheim and The Museum of Modern Arts (MoMA), will add to the local infrastructure and, place the host city on the global map of cultural and technology tourism.

The deadline for the submission of application is October 15, 2009. Only cities that complete and return the application form before this date will be confirmed as Official Candidate Cities.
Meanwhile, the inaugural general assembly of the members of the Pan African Telecommunications Museum (PATM) will take place during the month of March, 2010 in Accra Ghana, West Africa. Members who want to vote, be voted or recommended other members for the Board, Executive Committee and the Working Groups should complete the membership application form and return it as soon as feasible.
