Press Release.
“YOU WILL SPARK OFF A REVOLUTION BY 2011 IF YOU RIG”, LAGOS AC TELLS PDP.
The Lagos State chapter of the Action Congress has lambasted the PDP for their statement that there is no vacancy in Aso Rock in 2011. The party says that by that irresponsible statement, the PDP is demonstrating that it is impervious to changing a fraudulent system that had corruptly aided it to power in Nigeria for the past ten years.
In a release in Lagos, signed by the Lagos State Publicity Secretary of the AC, Joe Igbokwe, the party said that such wild and reckless boasts capture the crude and irreformable mind of the members of the PDP in their quest for illicit and unearned power. It warned the PDP that Nigeria will literally be set on fire if they are thinking of carrying out another massive rape of democracy in 2011, as they did in 2003 and 2007.
“If the members of the PDP are honest to themselves, they would admit that Nigerians are united in hatred and disdain for them. They would have admitted that they have crippled Nigeria and rendered it a nation on the very brinks of failure through mediocrity and massive corruption. These are not attributes of any party that can retain power in any democracy in the world. It is understandable why the PDP would be talking of no vacancy when they have shown massive failure in leadership. They believe that the country will continue to wallow in corrupt and fraudulent electoral process where they will continue to steal power through various dubious means. The PDP would be mistaken if they believe that Nigeria will tolerate such impudent rape again in 2011.
“One would have expected a party that wants to retain power to perform and make good use of the power they have to improve the lots of the people. The PDP is not doing this but believes that forming a cartel of looters and treasury raiders will buy it continued stay in power. They must be disappointed this time around because Nigerians have reached the limit of endurance in ten years of horrible governance by the PDP. We want to warn the PDP not to take Nigerians for granted and we insist that 2011 will be their waterloo should they think they will continue to hold Nigerians to ransom through sham elections and massive stealing of the people’s mandate.
“Given the abject performance of the PDP led government for the past ten and half years, and given the prostrate nature of the country presently, we believe that Aso Rock is as vacant as ever. With a country running at what many have seen as auto pilot, there is no time leadership is needed than now to pull the country from the pit which PDP has dragged it into. We wonder what made the PDP believe that Nigeria is not capable of being better governed if not their ravaging bestial interests and selfish cravings.
“Lagos AC believes that such belief that the PDP will rule Nigeria till eternity, via fraudulent electoral exercises is the reason why the PDP works assiduously to frustrate genuine electoral reforms. We believe that such nonsensical feeling that a prostrate and rudderless party will rule Nigeria till eternity is driven by an unrepentant commitment to subject elections in Nigeria to large-scale fraud to benefit a cartel of unscrupulous Nigerians and we will firmly resist this. The PDP believes firmly in reward without hardwork, which is why it wants perpetual power through election rigging and other forms of manipulation.
“We want to warn the PDP to be careful on how they toy with the destiny of Nigerians. We want them to note that Nigerians have not been totally cowed into submission and at the right time, will fight to extricate their country from the vice grips of the deadly cabal that make up the PDP who have ensured that a country so well endowed like Nigeria is now a pauper nation where hunger, disease, poverty and crime remain the only thriving businesses. We want them to beware of taking the patience and perseverance of Nigerians for their limitless misdeeds in power for granted. We want them to learn from history that Nigerians have always had ways of ending such nuisances as they now constitute in the lives of Nigerians. We warn them to beware of the ides of 2011, as that date will certainly signal the end of democracy if the PDP continues to insist on fraudulently having their ways as in the previous elections. We warn them that they will spark off a revolution that will consume them in 2011 if they continue thinking they will continue to manipulate the process to give themselves unending access to the reassure cove of this nation.”
