Press Release
Lagos AC Carpets National Assembly, PDP Over Budget Impasse.
The Lagos State chapter of the Action Congress has stated the present induced crisis that has affected the presentation of the 2010 budget is an indication that the PDP is desirous of ruining this country for whatever interest they are pursuing. The party says that it is appalling that Nigeria is being held hostage by a bunch that stole their ways to power and as such, do not care if Nigeria rots so long as their corrupt interests are serviced.
In a release in Lagos, signed by the party’s Lagos State Publicity Secretary, Joe Igbokwe, Lagos AC says that Nigerians must brace up to install a purposeful leadership at both the executive and legislative levels or risk being completely shut down by those that do not appreciate the reasons for their occupying the respective positions they are mismanaging at present. It therefore urges all Nigerians to start working for effective leadership change or the country risks continuing on the self-inflicted morass the PDP has well demonstrated that it is not competent to rule Nigeria.
“We are surprised that a national budget is being held by needless altercation for supremacy by two bodies that should be concerned about the staid nature of the country presently. We are surprised that the PDP is holding the nation by the jugular once again, in the name of fighting for who should host the budget presentation, when they have been in power for ten years. We wonder what the situation used to be before now that such needless and annoying distraction is allowed to hold the presentation of national budget to ransom.
“Lagos AC is convinced that the PDP is a finished cartel that do not know what to do with power hence the present stalemate the national assembly, firmly controlled by the PDP has visited on the nation. We believe that the PDP and its members are disoriented bunches that lack the capacity and vision to take this country to the next level. Together with other Nigerians, we are wondering how we came to this terrible pass, which concerns every Nigerian. We are appalled that the PDP, like Nero is fiddling while Nigeria is on fire and we see this as a demonstration of the proven incompetence of the PDP and its members for leadership.
“What is happening now shows clearly that the members of the national assembly are impervious to the interests and concerns of the Nigerian people. This is not surprising considering the fact that majority of the people that parade our national legislative houses did not receive the free mandates of the people of Nigeria. We are amazed at the level some people can go in toying with the interests of a nation and the present quarrel over which chamber will host a budget that should have been on debate now, shows that the pack of people that occupy the nation’s legislative chambers are mere jokers that do not know what they are supposed to do.
“We are angrier that the sorry state of the nation does not move these legislators to adopt pro-active measures to ensure that Nigerians get a little reprieve from continuous bad governance and budgetary flippancy. We see a clear failure of leadership and direction in what is happening now and state that Nigerians must start working to take back their country from this fidgeting packs. While we call for a quick and immediate resolution of this petty distraction, we charge Nigerians to ensure they are represented by not only competent people that take their interests in heart. We are being forced to say that the present crop of representatives are too selfish and incompetent to represent the interests of the Nigerian people who are now pinning away in preventable want while their so-called representatives fiddle over inconsequential issues.
“Lagos AC demands that this needless impasse be quickly resolved while the budget presentation and approval process be quickly done so that Nigerians can see the little they can hope for in a country where hopelessness has become the norm”.
