The Lagos State chapter of the Action Congress has extended its worthy felicitations to the delegates to the party’s National Convention, holding in Lagos on Saturday, 12 th December 2009. Lagos AC says that the convention is timely, coming at a time the country is facing a leadership vacuum occasioned by the grand failure of the PDP in the past ten years.

In a release in Lagos, signed by the Lagos State Publicity Secretary of the AC, Lagos AC says that as the host of this monumental occasion, it is the wish of the party in Lagos that the entire Nigerian nation will be made to enjoy the blissful experience the AC government is presently enacting in Lagos. It therefore urges AC leaders nationwide to work very hard to enthrone the AC in a majority of states in Nigeria and at the center so as to spread wide the gains of democracy among Nigerians.

“We heartily welcome all our party’s delegates to Lagos, the state of aquatic splendor, land of limitless opportunities and a proven center of excellence. We welcome you to the state that embodies the prospects still possible in a badly mismanaged country as Nigeria. We welcome the delegates of our great party to Lagos, the very nerve center of the country, the economic capital of Nigeria and the home to every Nigerian. We welcome the delegates of our great party to Nigeria’s most important and most powerful state, which houses more than 70 per cent of the most productive segment of the country’s population and the country’s intelligentsia. We wish all our party delegates a delightful experience in the masterpiece which the past and present AC governments are turning Lagos into.

“Lagos AC wishes to admonish our party delegates to sit down and deliberate extensively on how to advance the cause of democracy, which had been endangered critically in the last ten years of PDP’s corrupt and rudderless watch. We want the delegates of AC, drawn from all over the country to map out strategies of taking over from the PDP, which had proved a colossal failure in power, as evidenced by the unending pains and sufferings, which Nigerians have been experiencing in the hands of the PDP these past ten years. We want to let our party delegates know that Nigerians are expecting a larger role for the AC in the obvious void created by the ineptitude of the PDP government at the center and in many states where they succeeded in commandeering power through vile electoral conducts. We want the AC to strategize on how to fill this void because Nigerians expect much from us as the strongest voice for cheated, robbed and defenseless Nigerians.

“We want the delegates of our great party to work to make each and every member of AC in all nooks and crannies of Nigeria, a fanatical apostle of ‘one man, one vote’ creed and ensure this gospel is spread to all parts of the country. We want them to make every member of the AC an apostle of fraud-free election and work tenaciously to stop electoral fraud everywhere they find themselves. Lagos AC is proud to showcase Lagos State as a pointer to what the AC can do with governance and we want the delegates to take the lessons of the transformation of Lagos to their respective states and work towards enthroning an accountable government at all levels of governance to take Nigeria out of the woods and restore the prospects of the country.

“Once again, we welcome our delegates with pride to a state that is working to point the way to 2011 and to what Nigeria can achieve were it governed rightly. We are proud that the honour belongs to the AC and even prouder that it belongs to Lagos AC. We encourage them all to work for a vibrant party that will fill the wide and very noticeable void in Nigeria’s leadership at present. We salute the courage of these delegates and other members of the AC in the face of the destructive politics that has been promoted in Nigeria in the past ten years. We welcome you and wish you all a fruitful deliberation in the Center of Excellence”.

Joe Igbokwe.
