The Lagos State chapter of the Action Congress has advised Vice President Goodluck Jonathan to fight for relevance in the present scheme of things where he has been reduced to a mere onlooker than dream of another electoral heist in 2011. The party says that the entire country had been crumbled by the PDP and any talk of winning by the PDP amounts to insulting Nigerians who are collective victims of PDP’s horrendous stay in power since 1999.

In a release in Lagos, signed by the Lagos State Publicity Secretary of the AC, Joe Igbokwe, the party said that far from addressing the monumental woes the country is sucked kin as a result of the maladministration of the PDP, this Vice President is dreaming of stealing another election in 2011. It advises the Vice President not to provoke Nigerians into decreeing a fatwa on the PDP for the mounting woes of the last eleven years.

“Without sounding immodest, the Vice President is a political featherweight who commands little or no political relevance in the present scheme of things. This political irrelevance is demonstrated in the present condition of a sitting Vice President who has been effortlessly shoved aside when he is supposed to be at the driving seat in the absence of the president. That he passes his powerlessness and lack of bite in sounding so brash about the prospects of his so-called in 2011, when he and his party had made a mess of the lives of Nigerians, shows that his statements on such issues are not to be taken serious.

“Nigerians are witnessing the great demolition the PDP had visited on a well endowed country in ten years of unmitigated destruction. We are living through the living hell this Vice President and the party he immodestly promotes has launched on the country in the past ten years. We are victims of terrible and dangerous roads the PDP has given the country. We are witnesses to the several billions of dollars Jonathan and his PDP have spent on PHCN to generate increasing darkness.

We are all privy to total collapse of the health, security and education sectors in all ramifications. We are all victims of the ravaging inflation, unemployment, corruption, mediocrity, industrial mortality, rampaging disease, mass poverty and decay, which are the highpoints of PDP’s unfortunate rule for the past eleven years. We are all witnesses to the horrendous electoral roguery the PDP has launched on Nigeria for the past ten years. These are the foundations on which Goodluck Jonathan, so much overwhelmed by his powerless position that he cannot insist on his constitutional rights, is building another electoral heist for the PDP. We assure him that a shocker awaits him in 2011 if he still believes that he and his party will be allowed to steal the mandates of Nigerian people as they did in 2003 and 2007.

“It is a great pity that while in other countries, parties in power predicate their re-election quests on their performance in power, here in Nigeria, PDP predicates its own on its ability to employ massive fraud to cheat  Nigerians of their mandates. It is a pity that the Vice President is not basing his audacious claim to another electoral victory on his party’s performance in office. We would have been delighted if Goodluck Jonathan talked wonderfully of Nigerians rewarding his party for its sterling performance in office. But the Vice President is resting his wild dream of continued stay in power on the capacity of his party to inflict the most obnoxious electoral fraud on Nigerians and he hopes that will subsist till eternity. We wish him luck in this reckless dream. We understand that such dreams are the reason why the Vice President and his party have refused to accede to the universal demand for a reform of the odious electoral process that brought them to power. We assure them that Nigerians will certainly take their destiny in their hands to bring about a government they desire in 2011 and we want the Vice President to realize that Nigeria will be governed by a leadership the people elect in 2011 and not through those imposed through the most audacious electoral fraud. If that is the case, he knows that the PDP is presently singing its swan song among dehumanized and traumatized Nigerians who are passing through the torture of PDP’s brutal reign since 1999.

Joe Igbokwe.

Publicity Secretary,

Lagos AC.
