MEGA Party meet over Government clamp down and infiltration
Mega Summit Movement {MSM} will hold a special meeting of all its allies in political parties, civil society, Labour and Youth movements this week in Abuja to review the sponsored infiltration its movement and clamp down on the opposition, mass media and democratic institutions, by the Peoples Democratic Party {PDP} led government.
MSM states that Nigerians are unfortunately returning to the dark ages through undemocratic and arm strong tactics; as manifested by the recent intimidation of African Independent Television {AIT}, the withdrawal of General Muhammad Buhari rtd pensions and official vehicle, the uncivilized manner former governor of Sokoto State, Alhaji Attahiru Bafarawa was arrested at the venue of the meeting of sponsors of mega party at Sheraton Hotel Abuja and the vicious introduction of Media Bill in the National Assembly.
MSM is therefore calling on Nigerians to stand up and defend their inalienable rights. For as the saying goes - yesterday it was Buhari and AIT, today it is Bafawara and Mega Summit, tomorrow whose turn will it be?
It is appalling that the government who prides itself with the mantra of rule of law would pressurize and intimidate AIT into removing the presenter of Focus Nigeria; Gbenga Aruleba from the programme. Again, how can one explain the withdrawal of a former Head of State's pensions and official vehicle given by previous regime? Or the vicious attempt to sponsor some hungry elements to create a picture of division in the Mega Party secretariat
Finally, MSM demands that Atahiru Bafarawa be immediately charged to court or be released from custody with immediate effect; as he has already exceeded the maximum 48 hours provided by the law in detention.
