MERRY XMAS TO NIGERIANS – NCP implores Nigerians to demand for true change
The National Conscience Party (NCP) felicitates with the Christians globally, and our co-Nigerians specifically, on the renowned celebration of Christmas world-wide.
In a Media Statement issued by the party for the “abolition of poverty” and signed by the Chairman, NCP in Lagos; Afolabi W. A. Gbajumo, it conscientiously advised Nigerians:
“To stand for their rights of having serious anti-corruption drive, good governance, socio-economic upliftment and credible leadership that would change the precarious conditions of our fatherland for proper advancement now. Though, we encourage people to be solemnly prayerful for a soonest recovery of President Umar Musa Yar’adua and goodness of Nigeria as a whole. But that must not be to the aberration of the Constitutional laws which stipulated that the Vice President shall be the Acting President in the absence of the President who had been ill/hospitalized in far away Saudi Arabia for one month now. Consequently, NCP warned the PDP-led Federal Government of Nigeria not to orchestrate an obvious violation of the Supremacy of Constitutionalism as that is currently precipitating/tending towards breakage of laws and order contrary to the rule of law mantra which President Yar’adua advocated for.
Furthermore, we are of the opinion that Nigeria may not have a people-oriented- constitutional change and electoral reform with the mannerism the review is been handled/gagged by the Senate Committee with over-concentration to merely 6 cities in 6 geo-political zones instead of the 36 States or 774 Local Councils where the largest shunk of grassroot populations are domicide. We observed that so far the exercise tends to be in futility inspite of the Nigerians’ Billion Naira allotted for the review vis-à-vis the hard currencies from the Joint Donor Basket Funds from EU,USAID,UK-DFID and CIDA of Canada.”
