Lagos AC Throws Support to Nigerian Protesters.
The Lagos State chapter of the Action Congress has lauded the well meaning Nigerians who have risen up to condemn the induced constitutional crisis over the long and indefinite absence of President Umaru Yar’Adua without handing over power to his deputy. The party says that the protests send warning signals to those who are desperately manipulating the affairs of the country for their selfish benefits that Nigerians are not fooled about their intrigues.
In a release in Lagos, signed by the Lagos State Publicity secretary of the AC, Joe Igbokwe, the party says that simultaneous nature of the protests in Abuja, Washington, London and several other capitals of the world shows that Nigerians are not so dumb as not to realize that the country is not under any known leader for close to sixty days. It warns that further manipulations of the system and laws in Nigeria will lead to a very dicey situation that would be too hot to handle and warns those that are holding power hostage in Nigeria to beware of the building wraths of Nigerians.
“We want to laud the courage and tenacity of the patriotic Nigerians who have risen up to say no to an obvious absurdities which some selfish characters have been sowing in Nigeria in the long absence of Yar’Adua. We wonder how these people who have sustained this wicked position with thick layers of lies and hubris believe that all Nigerians are dunces to be hoodwinked for what are clearly the selfish interests of these few manipulators.
“At a time when Nigeria is practically crawling on its knees as a result of the intrigues and plots of those that have progressively ruined it, we want to state that it is the height of wickedness for some people to run the country into a leadership enclave where several illegalities and unconstitutional acts are being forced down on others. We are even more scared of the state of health of the country’s coffers at a period where no president is around to take responsibility for expenditures and other actions that affect the lives of over 150 million people. We see this as the height of the lawless regime the PDP had been running in over ten years of a malfunctioning democracy and we join our voices to not only condemn this but also firmly throw our support to the patriots that are rising in every corner of the country and the entire globe to condemn what is a detestable and criminal attempt to pervert governance for the greed of some few people.
“While we support the protests going on now and demanding a return to a state of normalcy, we are seriously appalled that the Vice President who should have shown more commitment to asserting his constitutional rights is busy diverting attention and rather spending every minute of his idle and powerless office to speak of how PDP will rig Anambra into its overflowing dirty political kitty. We are seriously disappointed at the action of the Vice President and his nauseating show of weakness and spinelessness and we warn that he is playing into the hands of the serial manipulators who do not deem him fit enough for the presidency. We are riled that instead of attending to serious state matters in the absence of the president, the vice president is being disempowering himself and rather showing a shameful and fear-ridden commitment towards manipulating the governorship election in Anambra State.
“We want to, once again, applaud the patriotic Nigerians that have stood up in the face of the national aberration that has been built around the absence of Yar’Adua. We assure them of our support while we call other Nigerians to rise up and demand that indeed enough is enough! We want to warn the serial manipulators that their tricks are running out and that the country may not survive the next intrigue. We want to let them know that the choice is theirs to discontinue their pranks or run this country into a situation the country will never survive.”
