Lagos AC Urges Hitch Free Registration, Cautions Members Against Malpractices.

The Lagos State chapter of the Action Congress has urged its teeming members and supporters all over the state to go out and register in the on-going membership registration exercise and ensure they avoid multiple registration and ECOMOG during the exercise. The party says that the present registration remains the valid document that determines membership of the AC and must be embraced by all members in the state.

In a release in Lagos, signed by the Lagos State Publicity secretary of the AC, Joe Igbokwe, Lagos AC implored the members to ensure the exercise goes peacefully in all parts of Lagos and urged them to avoid any undemocratic act that may work against the party’s belief in one-man-one-vote as the core of democracy in Nigeria. The party enjoins more members to register with the AC and ensure the party continues to enjoy the groundswell of support it is presently enjoying in Lagos.

“We believe that AC members in all wards and local government areas in Lagos know the importance of the present registration exercise and will avail themselves of the golden opportunity this offers them. We urge them to mobilize in their various units and go out to register as that gives them the power to rights and privileges available in our great party. We urge them to be peaceful and avoid any form of malpractices as such negative acts have no place in our party;s cardinal belief in the sanctity of the people’s vote as the sole determinant of who governs in a democracy.

“While we enjoin our members to go our and register, we want them to eschew multiple registration and the ECOMOG tactics for this will  lead to nowhere, both in the party and the new democratic order that is evolving from our determined resolve to ensure that the people’s votes count. We want them to make sure that nothing is done to manipulate the registration exercise in their locales and to ensure that no one is allowed to manipulate the exercise for ulterior purposes. We want our members to always bear in mind that our party does not tolerate electoral fraud and those with such intent are advised to stay away from the exercise and the party.

“Lagos AC wants to thank our teeming members, supporters and the good people of Lagos for the tremendous support given to our party and the governments ran by our party so far and we want to assure them that we are ready to attend to their needs and aspirations. We want to assure the good people of Lagos State that the AC will never disappoint their expectations, as we have proved over the years. We want them to remain firm and steadfast in their choice of AC and we urge those who are not members of the party, as yet to go to their various local governments and register for the party.
