The Lagos State chapter of the Action Congress has described the decampment of Hakeem Gbajabiamila, the member representing Surulere federal constituency in the House of Representatives from the AC to the PDP as a shameless act of a desperate but weightless political opportunist that will signal his end politically. The party, while wishing Gbajamialla success in his confused political opportunism says that his exit has created a needed opportunity for a more purposeful, dedicated, principled and vibrant representation for Surulere in the House of Representatives.

In a release in Lagos, signed by the party’s Lagos State Publicity Secretary of the AC, Joe Igbokwe, Lagos AC said that Gbajabiamila is threading a worn out and useless path to political irrelevance, trod by like minded opportunists who have betrayed their people and sunk their political graves in the process. The party warns those that hope to continue trading with the mandates of their people to steer clear of the AC because the party has made a principled resolve to ensure that such opportunistic practice is dealt with in the future.

“Gbajabiamila’s decampment is good riddance to absolute rubbish because he is merely tolerated in the AC where he had shown streaks of consistent opportunism. That he is jumping from the AC in Lagos to the PDP says so much about him and the type of politics he plays. He is an unscrupulous and unprincipled politician whose selfish interests becloud his conviction. So funny were the reasons he fabricated to explain his vaulting move. Nigerians wonder what he is doing in PDP that represents all that is vile and revolting in Nigerian polity, if he really meant what he said informed his cross carpeting. That he had invented fairy tales to explain away his very shameful act shows that he does not deserve the mandate he has just shamefully traded for mere mess of porridge. We know that he has dug his political grave by abandoning a party that is acknowledged for transforming Lagos while the entire country under the watch of his new party sinks into a miserable abyss.

“We are particularly miffed that Gbajabiamila will invent cock-and-bull stories to explain his present hara kiri, ostensibly believing that Nigerians are fools who cannot discern, especially on a clear case of selfish prospecting he is doing with this decampment. Perhaps, Gbajabiamila feels that Lagosians will be fooled by his antics and very shameful conduct, which indicts him before the electorates he purports to represent and whose mandate he is now trading with. Of course, we are convinced that Gbajabiamila knows the price for treachery and in engaging in such absurd betrayal, he knows that he is beating a familiar path trod by such other people as Wahab Dosunmu, Adeseye Ogunlewe, Femi Pedro,  Musliu Obanikoro, Kofo Bucknor Akerele, etc who have sunk their political graves by trying to trade with the mandates of the good people of Lagos. We wish Gbajabiamila a smooth voyage into his self-chosen political oblivion.

“Lagos AC wants to use this forum to urge any member of the AC who wants to warn any elected representative of the people of Lagos who decides to indulge in such shameful trading as Gbajabiamila has done to resign from his position before carpet crossing. We want to assure Lagosians that we are making everything possible to dissuade such political traders as Gbajabiamila from accessing AC’s mandates and employing same for shameless trading. We want to urge all AC members and supporters to ignore political turncoats, betrayers and opportunists like Gbajabiamila and continue supporting the AC as it transforms Lagos into a modern, functional and convenient for all Nigerians that now see hope in the fast tracked development of Lagos by the AC government in the last eleven years.”

Joe Igbokwe.

Publicity Secretary,

Lagos AC.
