The Lagos State chapter of the Action Congress has strongly condemned the latest spate of irascible killings in Jos and demanded that the perpetrators be fished out and dealt with. The party says that time has come to clamp down not only on the perpetrators but the hidden instigators of such bloodletting if the country is not to be plunged into one huge killing field.

In a release in Lagos, signed by the Lagos State Publicity secretary of the AC, Joe Igbokwe, the party said that the latest attack on defenseless citizens in Jos speak of a sick and troubled country that is on the verge of implosion. It says that unless the perpetrators and sponsors of the latest mindless pogrom are fished out and satisfactorily dealt with, the country will soon witness an orgy of senseless bloodletting that would be hard to control once it sets sail.

“From what we gathered in the latest pogrom that involved the merciless massacre of children and women by blood-thirsty vampires, the latest orgy of killing was well planned and executed with bloody fiat. We have our strong suspicion that they were sponsored by cowardly people who hide in the background and issue hypocritical condemnation while also planning further mayhem.

“We do not see any justification for the horrific carnage unleashed on innocent inhabitants of a village in Jos by vengeful harbingers of death. We do not see any reason for the act of cowardice unleashed in hapless citizens by blood-thirsty scoundrels and we believe that humanity must rise up in unison to condemn this latest act of pogrom. We totally condemn this beastly act of terror and warn that Nigeria is sitting on a keg of gunpowder if the perpetrators of this act are not fished out and summarily dealt with.

“Lagos AC is seeing signs of a wider national crisis and the regression of Nigeria into a Somalia if we keep on treating such issues as the latest killing in Jos with kid’s glove. We do not understand why the security agencies failed to intervene throughout the period the bloodletting lasted. We call that a comprehensive probe be carried out on the incident and why the security agencies were lethargic to come to the aid of the victims of the premeditated pogrom.

“We are beginning to have our fears that Nigeria is being turned to one vast killing field and that a breakdown of peace and security is imminent if citizens could be slaughtered at will for whatever reasons that fired the latest killings. We are having our fear that the warning of the United States government that Nigeria may break up in 2015 will come to fulfillment earlier than predicted. We challenge the Acting President to get to the root of the senseless killing in Jos and use it to send strong message to the perpetrators of violence against fellow Nigerians that such acts would not be tolerated in the future.

“We want to commiserate with the families of the victims of the recent Jos killings and we urge them to bear their gargantuan loss with fortitude while committing the souls of their loved ones to the mercy of God.”

Joe Igbokwe.

Publicity Secretary,

Lagos AC.
