Name, Nail, Shame and Shun Corrupt Leaders Anywhere, Everywhere

CACOL DEMANDS QUICK DISPENSATION OF JUSTICE IN THE FOLLOWING CASES

advertisement

LATE 2009, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) was forced by its critics to publish high profile cases it was pursuing in various courts blaming the slow justice system for the delay in the process of bringing to conclusion cases against politically exposed people who have been indicted for various corruption cases.

The Coalition Against Corrupt Leaders (CACOL) has had causes to petition the National Judicial Council on some of such cases that suffer undue delay or manifest manipulation.

Although CACOL still has an axe to grind with the EFCC over some of its petitions to it that are not receiving deserved attention especially the one submitted since 2007 and re-submitted in 2008 on the need to investigate the source of wealth of the immediate past President Olusegun Obasanjo, we are compelled to ask the in-coming Minister of Justice to take it as first priority to ensure quick dispensation of justice on corruption cases in various courts in the country. This is with a view to encouraging the EFCC and other anti-graft agencies to be more effective in carrying out their statutory assignments.

These cases cannot continue to be pending while we bemoan our fate as a nation in the hands of the rampaging monster called corruption. Justice delay is Justice denied.
