New Restoration Team Storms Andoni ...Chapter Secretariat Commissioned
The New Restoration Team, Andoni Local Government Area chapter was on Sunday, March 28, 2010 launched. The venue was the CPS II Field Ngo Town. To mark the official launching and commissioning of the New Restoration Team office in the area, there was a special thanksgiving church service which preceded the event.
The Special Guest of Honour was His Excellency, Sir Dr Peter Odili, former executive Governor of Rivers State who was ably represented by the State Chairman of the New Restoration Team, Hon Lolo Ibieneye.
According to the former Governor's representative, the Restoration Team was resurrected because of the dire need of development and government presence in many parts of the State among which and most importantly too, is the Andoni Local Government Area.
“Having gone through the length and breadth of this council area, we discovered there is no life here. This is the greatest man's inhumanity to man that a whole community of people will be suffering in the midst of plenty which explains why we are opting for a change and not a rebellion,” Hon Ibieneye noted.
“We are the same group of people that canvassed for votes in all the nooks and crannies of the State and subsequently brought you light which seems to have been overtaken by darkness. That light is coming back through the New Restoration Team. We have come to Andoni again to rededicate it once more to God which had eluded the area since 2007 when men started playing God. It cannot continue to be so. Our God is alive and is surely in control”, The New Restoration Team remarked.
In his sermon, Bishop Suobite Ayibakuro, the officiating minister said in all circumstances, God must be glorified. He condemned the attitude of politicians who will stop at nothing in seeking elective offices so much so that they resort to certain evil practices like the use of the youths, other people's children as thugs to prosecute elections while theirs are living abroad.
The man of God advised that parents should not allow their children and wards to carry guns for anybody, warning politicians who are in the habit of wasting innocent blood for power to desist as they will be next to be annihilated after all the young ones may have been killed.
He regretted that Andoni Local Government is so neglected by the powers that be, stressing that enough is enough as rightly envisaged by the New Restoration Team.
In their individual testimonies, Paul Reuben said, “we have decided for a change in Andoni, to take a new cause. It is a battle. Though few but we are for the masses. This is the beginning of the appointed time. There was a time they paid money that we should be assassinated. In PDP, we led three times during primaries and election proper.
Hon Esuku M. Esuku: There is no rebellion in the PDP. All we want is a positive change. Our brothers in government have insulted our chiefs. We won the primaries, election and at the tribunal. The Chiefs refused to be compromised, we thank God.
Hon Waribo Anthony: Rivers State has not settled because Andoni is not settled.
Hon Dimieri: Government belongs to all of us. Are you governing, remember God is watching what you are doing. All those handling positions in Andoni are all pastors yet there is much violence in the area. People were detailed to kill us.
Highlights of the ceremony were goodwill messages from the chiefs and people of Andoni Local Government Area, cultural dances and the dedication/inauguration of a duplex as the Local Government Secretariat of the New Restoration Team.
Over 10,000 supporters of the New Restoration Team from other Local Government Areas including Andoni attended the well organized, colourful and properly packaged ceremony.
