PRESS STATEMENT
12th October, 2008
YARADUA IS FIT TO RULE
AREWA CONSULTATIVE FORUM
Conference of Nigeria Political Parties {CNPP}, without prejudice to the health of President Umaru Musa Yaradua and taking into cognizance the earlier statement made by the Arewa Consultative Forum {ACF} to the effect that President Yaradua was imposed on Nigerians by ex-president, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo; totally rejects the new statement of the ACF that President Yaradua is fit and capable to rule Nigeria.
CNPP views the ACF’s statement as a volte-face, gang up and build up to influence and manipulate the Supreme Court to authenticate the 2007 sham presidential election. It was president Yaradua’s spokesman that set the ball rolling by proclaiming that General Muhammadu Buhari’s petition is weak, Alhaji Abubakar Rimi added his voice and now ACF; all branding and drumming orchestra of deception of Yaradua’s efficiency and capability to discharge his duties, contrary to indices of a failed regime.
CNPP, while remembering with nostalgia the exit of Chief Sunday Awoniyi, is confounded that the highly respectful and influential ACF can descend into the arena of partisan conflict; negating the ineptitude, corruption and inefficiency of nine years of Peoples Democratic Party {PDP} stranglehold on Nigeria.
CNPP relying on the primary physics thesis that no work is done if there is no distance covered, is compelled to ask the following questions:
-------------If President Yaradua is efficient and capable; why is the 7-Point- Agenda dead on arrival after sixteen months of declaration, in the midst of excess oil revenue?
------------Is the violation of the Appropriation Act lawful?
------------Is the returning of duly appropriated N400 Trillion naira back to the treasury; instead of executing the projects it was meant for fit and capablility to fix Nigeria?
------------Is the abandonment of the construction of Gombe—Maiduguri, Ilorin—Ibadan, Owerri--- Onitsha, Warri--- Port Harcourt et al, an example of good judgment?
------------ Is abandonment of Lagos—Kano rail project a sign post of political will?
Is the shielding and protection of monumental corruption going on in the land and that of the e ex-president Chief Olusegun Obasanjo and the 31 ex-governors from the anti-graft agencies fit and capability to rule Nigeria?
ACF and drummers of orchestra of deception should on all account place public good above self interest, as the vanishing of the golden-oil-age steers everybody in the face. Without infrastructure what is our hope of meeting the 2020 target?
Consequently, we call on the ACF to retract the anti-democracy statement and design ways of freeing his members from indolence.
