Ribadu, Larmode Must Apologise To The Nation

PRESS RELEASE

RIBADU, LARMODE MUST APOLOGISE TO THE NATION

The Pro National Conference Organisation, PRONACO on Tuesday in Lagos said it has been absolved by emerging revelations that the Mallam Nuhu Ribadu led EFCC actually cleared former president Olusegun Obasanjo of corrupt acts while in office and that the media noise about jailing 31 ex-governors was after all a blackmail tactics to stop their electoral ambitions.

Last week the Spokesman of PRONACO, Mr Wale Okunniyi during his public intervention on the issue had declared that the claim of Mallam Nuhu Ribadu on the issue was suspect and that a commission of inquiry was necessary to determine the missing link between the claims of Ribadu and Waziri

In the statements Okunniyi was quoted as saying;

certain questions need to be answered to be able to determine the truth of this matter. If indeed 31 ex-governors had been investigated and ready for prosecution before May 29,2007, between then and June 2008 when Waziri came on board (a period of over one year), why were these ex-governors not taken to court for prosecution?

Was there any handover document stating how many case files especially on ex-governors were handed over to Waziri? Was Ribadu’s claim then a statement of fact or a political statement or better still , was he just playing to the gallery? These and many more should be answered so as to determine the truth.

However, the group, yesterday in Lagos, against the background of the latest revelations asked Mallam Nuhu Ribadu and Mr Ibrahim Larmode to apologise to the nation for deliberately covering up Obasanjo and tacitly obstructing justice in the case of ex governors.

PRONACO, speaking through its Spokesman, Mr Wale Okunniyi also recalled that when they confronted Ribadu with the fact that Obasanjo was corrupt, “he challenged us to prove it; saying there is no evidence of corruption against Baba. So, when we eventually submitted the CNPP Petition to him, he tacitly circumvented the petition before he was removed”

We hope, withholding the report of Obasanjo prosecution from Mrs Waziri is not part of the grand plot to discredit the new anti corruption crusade under Waziri so as to prove that it is only a Ribadu that can lead the anti corruption war in Nigeria”

Okunniyi however advised Mrs Waziri to beware of the pitfalls of her predecessor by eschewing newspapers prosecutions and convictions of suspects so as not to compromise the integrity and credibility of the new anti graft war.
