Code of Conduct Bureau Convicts Onnoghen, Sacks Him As CJN

by Our Reporter

The Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) has convicted Walter Onnoghen, who
recently resigned as Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), guilty of false
declaration of assets; a breach of the provisions of the Code of Conduct
Bureau (CCB) for public officials.

Danladi Umar, chairing a three-man panel that delivered the judgement on
Thursday, also removed Onnoghen from the office as Chief Justice of
Nigeria and Chairman of National Judicial Council (NJC).

It also said Onnoghen is to forfeit the money in his five bank accounts
that were not declared to the Nigerian Government because they were
acquired illegally.
