The Alliance of Collaborating Political Parties (ACPP) has hailed the
Supreme Court Judgement, affirming the election of Governor Gboyega
Oyetola of the State of Osun, saying, the Alliance was happy that the
country’s apex court has restored the confidence of Osun State citizens
and Nigerians in the judiciary and that those who believed they could
outwit the electoral verdict of the people of the State of Osun were put
to disgrace.
ACPP described the judgement as a victory for Osun people and not for
Governor Gboyega Oyetola and the APC, urging him to be altruistic in
victory.
The Supreme Court on Friday, upheld the Appeal Court verdict that
Governor Gboyega Oyetola of the All Progressive Congress (APC) as the
winner of the 2018 Osun Governorship election.
According to a press statement made available to newsmen by the
Spokesperson of the Alliance, Dr. Adekunle Oyerinde and which was signed
by the Chairman and Secretary of the Alliance, Alh. Rafiu Anifowose and
Mr. Victor Olopade said that the victory “was a confirmation that was
already given by God from the first day Governor Oyetola was sworn in as
Osun State Governor”.
“We commend the Judiciary for its commitments to setting precedence that
will sustain Nigeria’s democracy, we commend all Osun APC members and
the people of the state for their prayers while the governorship legal
action lasted and we give glory to God that democratic tenets are
consolidated in the state.”
“The latest verdict on the 2018 governorship election in Osun state has
risen up our confidence in the judiciary as the last hope of the
ordinary citizens out there. We urge the good people of Osun State to
remain committed to the development of the state and trust in God for
better days ahead.” ACPP said.
While congratulating Governor Gboyega Oyetola, the Alliance of
Collaborating Political Parties (ACPP) urged him to remain with the
people of the state and never get bothered by the antics of those whose
only interest is to circumvent the verdict of the masses.
