President Goodluck Jonathan and top echelons of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) are currently having sleepless night over continuation of merger talks by over 10 opposition governors expected in Maiduguri today, Pointblanknews.com has gathered.
The Presidency according to source is particularly worried that the opposition governors who now prefers to be referred to as All Progressive Congress (APC) will score cheap political goal by coming to the troubled city of Maiduguri to hold its meeting; a State the President has not visited since he assume office in 2011.
“I think President Jonathan has not been fare to the people of Borno state. It is rather unfortunate that he never deemed it fit to Visit Borno State and commensurate with the people who are still being killed virtually on daily basis by either Boko Haram sect or the Military; but, the APC that was just formed some days ago felt it was absolutely necessary not only to identify with the peoples suffering but chose to hold its meeting in Maiduguri.” A source told pointblanknews.com
Pointblanknews.com also gathered that some of the governors who silently sneaked into Maiduguri yesterday considered it a strategy designed to take the PDP by surprise and to avoid unnecessary publicity that may attract the attention of the Boko Haram sect
One of the governors who is already in one of the government Lodge in the state is Alh. Abdulazeez Yari, the executive governor of. Zamfara state.
Yari was said to have stormed the state based on Instructions from his political god- father fomer governor of Zamfara state, Ahmed Sani Yerima.
Other governors who are expected in Borno state have already converge in Abuja waiting to connect a private jet to Maiduguri while those from the Lagos axis have already secured the services of private jets operators to fly them to Borno State.
