Proposed mega party, not a threat to us, APC group declares

by Our Reporter
In the wake of reports by a Labour Party LP chieftain, Prof. Pat Utomi that opposition parties were galvanizing forces to send the ruling All Progressives Congress APC packing in 2027, the National Progressive Hub, a group within the APC has said the party is not threatened with such developments.
The hub also said it was not disturbed by the recent meetings between the Presidential candidate of Labour party in the 2023 elections, Peter Obi, his New Nigerian Peoples Party NNPP counterpart, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP, a group, National Progressive Hub has called for the reincarnation of aggrieved members of the All Progressives Congress APC

National Coordinator of the group, Hon. Bukie Okangbe, made this known on Friday while speaking with journalists at the National Secretariat of the APC.

She said while the group was mindful of the happenings in the country, especially with hardship and hunger faced by many families and households, pleaded with Nigerians to bear with the President and have faith in the administration.

Okangbe stated: “It is on this note that the National Progressive Hub is calling on party faithfuls and members to rally round the leaders of our party for a greater victory in the next election.

“The game is gradually building up as many political parties and members are mending fences to challenge the All Progressive Congress hence, a signal that we have to sit up as a united family.

“The ongoing alignment of political parties and politicians in the country shows obviously that some are ready to match up with us come 2027.

“We are confident though that Nigerians are with us more than they were during the last elections due to the leadership quality of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.”

She said as a party, APC needs to show more understanding with the government of the day than the general public.

“We believe that no amount of political alignment or strategies can vote us out in 2027 if we are united. The strength of APC lies in the faithfulness of its members and so the more we pull our leaders down in public, the more we make the opposition stronger.

“It is now getting worse that some progressive members are doing the work of opposition parties which is a sad reality. It is our hope that this press release would put a magic stop to our internal party rancour and make our party stronger and better going forward as progressives that we are”, she added.
