The Governor of Jigawa State, Sule Lamido, on Thursday said governors of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have no intention of embarrassing the National Chairman of the Party, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur.
Lamido stated this against the backdrop of raging insinuations that the governors were at daggers drawn with Tukur.
But speaking with newsmen the governor, who had gone to brief party chieftains at Legacy House on the report of his committee on Adamawa PDP crisis, were ready to put the party first.
Lamido said “whatever the problem between us and the national chairman, we see ourselves as one family. There must be respect, there should be care.
The PDP will not embarrass him”
He continued “at the end of the day, they are all going to align with PDP and PDP candidates. Our party interest first, the party fortunes, what we are going to do to restore confidence of Nigerians. ACN, ANPP don’t experience one percent of PDP headache. The bigger the head, the bigger the headache but we have the capacity to overcome it. we don’t fear crises.”
On the Adamawa party crisis Lamido said the report was ready and would be submitted to the president soon.
“Look, I have been saying, we have been trying to work as a family, to get the family harmonized and what we are doing is in the interest of all key players in the party— those who feel aggrieved to come on board.
“We have been able to bury our personal ambitions and interest for the sake of the party, because it is the only hope for Nigeria.
“So, what we discussed here was, what do we do in the sake of PDP for the sake of Nigeria interest. I want to assure that we shall not fail Nigerians. On the Adamawa committee, our report is ready and we are submitting it to Mr. President and I assure you that the report is wonderful.”
Reacting to questions that some of the Adamawa faction have expressed alienation in the process he said “do you know what they call human management? Naturally, in any human gathering there are crises, there are problems, but you see, the PDP has the capacity and the sagacity to solve and overcome its own problems.”
