Indigenous tech startup, Bildup AI has launched an ambitious initiative tagged “AI in Every Classroom”, aimed at integrating artificial intelligence into the heart of Nigeria’s educational system.
The pioneering project, which officially kicked off at Adorable British College in Enugu, seeks to deliver personalized, adaptive learning experiences tailored to each student’s pace, style, and academic proficiency, regardless of their socio-economic background.
Speaking at the launch event, Chibuike Aguene, Chief Executive Officer of Bildup AI, described the initiative as a game-changer for Nigeria’s education sector and a clarion call for collective action from stakeholders.
“This is a remarkable opportunity for school proprietors, government agencies, parents, and education policymakers to join forces and revolutionize our classrooms,” Aguene said. “With Bildup AI, we aim to remove the barriers to quality education and ensure no child is left behind.”
Aguene disclosed that the company plans to reach one million students in the first year and scale up to ten million learners within five years, delivering AI-driven, customized learning paths to each beneficiary.
As part of the rollout, Bildup AI donated digital tablets and upgraded the digital infrastructure of Adorable British College to support the seamless integration of its AI platform.
“Our children are the future of Nigeria. We must equip them with the right tools,” Aguene said. “We’re committing N500 million over the next 12 months to support schools nationwide and expand our research and development to address both local and global learning challenges.”
Describing the launch as a landmark moment, Aguene emphasized its significance as the first time a homegrown African AI personal tutor is being deployed in a real classroom setting.
“Today is not just historic for Bildup AI or Adorable British College, it marks a turning point for Nigerian education. This initiative represents the merging of innovation and local realities,” he said.
Addressing concerns around artificial intelligence replacing human teachers, Aguene clarified that Bildup AI is built to complement, not replace educators.
“This technology is designed to empower teachers, not substitute them. By handling routine tasks and offering intelligent, real-time feedback, Bildup AI allows educators to reclaim up to 80% of their time—enabling deeper mentorship and student engagement,” he noted.
He concluded with a passionate call to action, framing the initiative as more than a platform, but a movement to transform African education.
“With continued investment and nationwide adoption, Nigeria can lead the world in AI-powered learning. Bildup AI is our step toward that future.”
