The All Progressives Congress (APC) has described former Vice President Atiku Abubakar as a selfish politician obsessed with presidential ambition and unwilling to rebuild a party.
Atiku had in a letter dated July 14, 2025, resigned his membership of the Peoples Democratic Party  (PDP) stating that the decision was painful but inevitable following the recent political trajectory in the party.
Reacting to the development, National Publicity Secretary of the ruling party, Felix Morka via his X handle on Wednesday, said Atiku is always driven by his selfish and obsessive presidential ambition, adding that he is never willing to commit to the hard work of building his party or resolving its internal crises.
“Yet again, Atiku uses his revolving door out of the PDP, for the third time all in his desperate but ever elusive search for the presidential Golden Fleece.
“Indisputably, the weakest link in Nigeria’s partisan democracy, Atiku is driven only by his selfish and obsessive presidential ambition, never willing to put in the work to build his party or remain to solve its internal crises but claims a birthright entitlement to presidential ticket of his party to the exclusion of all others. Congratulations, Nigeria’s incomparable political wanderer,” Morka wrote.
Recall that Atiku led five PDP Governors out of the PDP National convention in 2014 accusing former President, Goodluck Jonathan of usurping the turn of the notherner. He joined forces with President Bola Tinubu to form a coalition that birthed the APC.
However, he left the APC after former President Muhammad Buhari defeated him at the party’s primary election that took place in Lagos and was very hesitant to join Buhari’s campaign train in 2015.
