The Acting National Chairman of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Dr. Sadìq Abubakar Gombe, has congratulated the party’s former National Chairman, Professor Tunde Adeniran, on attaining the age of 80 on September 29, 2025.
In a statement signed by SDP’s National Publicity Secretary, Rufus Aiyenigba, Gombe described Adeniran as “a distinguished scholar, author, Nigerian patriot, exemplary politician and respected leader.”
The party extolled Adeniran’s outstanding contributions to national development, noting his service as pioneer Secretary of Mass Mobilization for Self-Reliance, Social Justice and Economic Recovery (MAMSER), former Chairman of Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), pioneer Minister of Education in the 4th Republic, and Nigeria’s former Ambassador to Germany.
“Professor Adeniran is a patriot and elder statesman whose record of integrity, scholarship, and service to humanity stands tall. The SDP cherishes the transformative and exemplary leadership he provided during his tenure as National Chairman,” Gombe said.
The party further recommended Adeniran’s life and value system as a model for politicians and public office holders, highlighting his trademark transparency, patriotism, and finesse in service.
While wishing him good health and fulfilment, the SDP Chairman described the octogenarian as an Omoluabi figure and “voice of truth” in Nigeria’s political space.
