The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Governor Chukwuma Soludo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) winner of the November 8 governorship election in Anambra State.
Announcing the results at the commission’s headquarters in Awka on Sunday, the Returning Officer and Vice Chancellor of the University of Benin, Prof. Edogah Omoregie, said Soludo secured 422,664 votes to defeat his closest rival, Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who polled 99,445 votes.
Paul Chukwuma of the Young Progressives Party (YPP) came third with 37,753 votes, while George Moghalu of the Labour Party and John Nwosu of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) garnered 10,576 and 8,208 votes respectively.
The election, held across the 21 local government areas of the state, was largely peaceful and witnessed impressive voter turnout. Governor Soludo’s re-election extends APGA’s dominance in Anambra politics, continuing a winning streak that began with the late Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu’s legacy of regional political identity
