Nigerian music icon, Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba, has broken his silence over the escalating tensions in his marriage to Natasha Osawaru, accusing certain family members of worsening the crisis under the guise of trying to “save” him.
The controversy reportedly began in the United Kingdom, where Natasha was allegedly heard raising her voice during a heated argument with the singer.
The dispute reportedly drew the attention of local authorities and led to 2Baba’s brief detention before he was later released without charges, according to sources close to the situation.
The situation worsened during a recent Instagram Live session with broadcaster Daddy Freeze, during which 2Baba and Natasha exchanged words openly before thousands of viewers.
The tense interaction shocked fans and quickly went viral, with many expressing concern about the couple’s emotional well-being.
Viral clips from the broadcast have since fueled speculation about deeper cracks in the marriage, while supporters have also raised concerns about the singer’s mental and emotional state following the public nature of the dispute.
The crisis further deepened after a social media message allegedly posted by 2Baba’s brother, Hyacinth Idibia, surfaced online. Many fans interpreted the post as an indication that the family had become actively involved and increasingly worried about the unfolding situation.
Meanwhile, the Edo State House of Assembly has reportedly summoned Natasha to appear before it following allegations that her conduct had brought public disrepute to the institution. Lawmakers were said to have expressed dissatisfaction with her recent public conduct, stating that it fell below expectations of a serving lawmaker.
There were reports that members of 2Baba’s family had written a petition to the Inspector-General of Police over the status of the singer’s marriage, claiming he is still legally married to Annie Idibia and questioning the legitimacy of his union with Natasha. However, no official confirmation or response from the police regarding the alleged petition has been made public as of the time of filing this report.
Responding to the growing controversy, 2Baba released a viral video in which he accused some members of his family of fueling the crisis rather than resolving it, insisting he did not need to be “rescued” from his marriage.
“This whole thing has gotten dangerously out of hand. I am not just going to be quiet anymore. I feel I have to say some facts here. I am a grown man and I believe I have the right to be with whoever I want,” he said.
“My family, under the pretext of trying to save me, has actually destroyed me and has killed someone’s daughter’s character. Natasha is getting death threats right now,” the singer added.
Admitting that he and his wife had experienced disagreements, 2Baba insisted such was normal in any marriage and warned that external interference had made the situation more dangerous.
“Fine, we have had our quarrels, but who doesn’t quarrel with their spouse? This is getting out of hand. I am perfectly okay. I just did my show recently in Abuja and many people were there,” he said.
“How do you say you want to save me but you are the one messing the whole thing up? This is unacceptable and it is unfair.”
The singer further accused his family of using the same approach in his past relationship with Annie Idibia, stating that repeated interference had worsened personal conflicts rather than resolving them.
“I have the right to be with whoever I want. I am not a child. I have always been a peaceful person, but this has become too much,” he said.
The fallout has sparked intense debate on social media, with fans deeply divided between those calling on the family to step back and those demanding greater intervention to ensure the safety and stability of everyone involved.
As the drama continues to unfold, it remains uncertain whether the Idibia family will emerge from the crisis united or further fractured.
