Gov. Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa has restated the need to strengthen the bond of relationship between the government and people of Abia and Bayelsa.
Dickson made the call at the traditional marriage ceremony between former Miss Justina Nwosu and Mr Chidi Nsonwu on Sunday at Mgboko Umuoria in Obingwa Local Government Area of Abia.
He said that a strong relationship between the two southern states would enable them to forge ahead closely, particularly as the election year approached.
He expressed deep appreciation to Gov Theodore Orji of Abia for his continued support for the Federal Government’s policies and programmes, especially President Goodluck Jonathan’s Transformation.
While congratulating the newly married couple for a successful ceremony, Dickson described Orji as a brother and dependable ally of Bayelsa,Dickson urged Nigerian youths to live exemplary lifestyles and strive to build bridges of peace and unity across the country.
The governor described the father of the bride, Chief Friday Nwosu, a lawyer, as his bosom friend and brother.
He said the relationship dated back to when they were together at the Police Academy as well as the university and Law School.
He noted with satisfaction Nwosu’s supportive roles to him both in politics and other fields of human endeavour.
Orji expressed appreciation to his Bayelsa counterpart for gracing the occasion, describing him as a man of integrity and a friend of the state.
He said his support for Jonathan remained unshaken, stressing that it was through such support that the president would be able to implement his transformation agenda to a logical conclusion.
In a remark, Nwosu wished the couple a blissful marriage and prayed God to bless them as well as thanked all those that attended the ceremony for the honour done him and his family.
