As the G7 Governors continue the battle against President Goodluck Jonathan with the formation of a breakaway NewPDP, there seem to be some knotty issues in their fold that may upset the apple cart.
The G7 governors are key players in the Kawu Baraje led group of PDP renegades, which also has Ex VP, Atiku Abubakar as one of the bigwigs.
Pointblanknews.com gathered that the problems bothers on what strategy to employ and the personal ambitions of the front runners like Niger’s Babangida Aliyu, Jigawa’s Sule Lamido , Rivers’ Rotimi Amaechi and Adamawa’s Murtala Nyako.
Meanwhile the quest to upset the battle plans of Jonathan and checkmate him, has forced the governors to abandon their respective states. The refusal of these governors to give more responsibility to their deputies and Secretary to state Governments is causing a lull.
Fresh facts have also emerged as to why Amaechi has blocked every moved to reconstitute the Obiakpor local council . Amaechi allegedly inspired the legislature which sacked the chairman and put in place a care taker committee people by pro Amaechi elemnts.
According to the figures, the local council’s internally generated revenue is more than those of Jigawa, Kano and Adamawa put together. This huge cache of cash comes in handy for Amaechi’s political battles in and outside the media.
There is also a crisis brewing in the APC over who would substantively occupy the national offices when the time comes. One very testy one is between Bola Tinubu and General Muhammad Buhari. While the former prefers Lie Mohammed to continue, Buhari favors Rotimi Fashakin.
Most of them are hardly at home to attend to state matters as they often visible in Abuja, Minna and Ota, where they hold nocturnal meetings with the likes of Ibrahim Babangida and Ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo,. These men, especially Obasanjo, have been fingered severally as the faces behind the masks.
Pointblanknews.com sources hinted that while a flank in the NewPDP prefer they decamp to either the APC or PDM, others would rather remain in the PDP and fight Jonathan.
While Kano’s Rabiu Kwankwaso , Amaechi, and Sokoto’ Wammako prefer they move, Aliyu and Lamido who harbor very tall ambitions, are convinced they can realize their dreams inside the PDP.
Our source hinted that Aliyu and Lamido believe moving with a large personality like Atiku, who also harbors a presidential ambition may be a problem for them. These men who also see themselves as top guns, would not want to go to the APC as second fiddles, who have to beg for slots.
Going by a reported pact between the NewPDP and APC, the latter is less likely to give the presidential slot to any other member of the Baraje group, aside from Atiku. The APC would cede the Vice President’s slot to the South East.
This is responsible for the perceived soft pedaling by Lamido and Aliyu. Lamido today said Jonathan was free to run in so far democratic principles are respected in the party.
Amaechi and Wamakko on the other hand , both who have landed in hot waters in the PDP, want to go where they would not have to deal with Jonathan. They fear that if Jonathan returns he could make the PDP too hot for them.
Another problem is, the APC see some of them in the Baraje group as disloyal so trust becomes an issue. This is the reason why members like Amaechi have not been able to move to the APC.
Recently, APC spokesman, Lai Mohammed alleged that the PDP would use some of its members to work as moles in the APC with the intention to fracture it.
