Special Assistant to the Speaker of the Imo state House of Assembly, Ikenna Samuelson Iwuoha has resigned his appointment, alleging that the office of the Imos number three citizen is riddled with corruption.
His resignation came following intrigues at the office of the Speaker. It will be recalled that few weeks ago, Samuelson threatened to expose political appointees of the speaker whom he accused of corrupt acts.
Before the threat to expose corrupt appointees, Samuelson had written a letter to the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Uwajumogu hinting the corrupt practices of His Chief of Staff, Hon. Kodichi Anamekwe.
As a result of the development, the Speaker office became jittery and afraid of Samuelson who also copied the said letter to the Clerk of the House as well as members of the Assembly.
The Assembly members were said to have pleaded with Samuelson to sheath his sword against the Chief of Staff, but the latter refused.
The confusion in the Speakers Office resulted in the serving of a query to Citizen Samuelson which he also replied to the Speaker and copied the Chief of Staff, Special Adviser on Administration. In the letter, Citizen Samuelson called on the Speaker to set up at least a 4-man panel/committee made up of only Assembly members who must invite him (Samuelson) to appear before them and in the presence of journalists to prove his allegation of corruption and fraud against the Chief of Staff.
After waiting in vain for Uwajumogu to set up the panel, Samuelson tendered his resignation letter to the Speaker.
Meanwhile correspondents of the Imo State House of Assembly have complained to Uwajumogu of fraud Allegation against his SSA on Media, Mr. Emeka Ahaneku, accusing him of stealing and diverting monthly stipends meant for correspondents. Efforts to get the reaction of the Speakers Media aide, Ahaneku proved abortive as his line was unavailable as at press time.
When contacted, Samuelson has promised to give full details of corrupt practices going on in the Office of the Speaker at a later date.
It will be recalled that Samuelson had a running battle with the former Gov. Ikedi Ohakim administration over alleged corruption. He wrote several petition to the anti graft agencies against the former governor. At a point, Ohakim was alleged to have flogged and tortured Samuelson in his office at Government House when he was arrested by security agents.
