Akpabio Advises Mu’azu Against Fake Politicians

by Our Reporter

Akwa Ibom Governor, Chief Godswill Akpabio has advised the new Chairman of
the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to watch out for those who would parade
themselves as metropolitan politicians claiming that they can deliver the
party.

Chief Akpabio, who gave the advice Tuesday when he and some political
heavy weight from the state paid a courtesy visit on the new
National PDP Chairman, Alhaji Adamu Mua’zu at the Wadata House, Abuja, said
”Look at their history, some of them who cannot even deliver their wards
will come telling you to forget the Governor and elders, but these are the
people who make things to happen in my state”.

The Governor explained that the visit was informed by the fact that the
state has always been on the lead for the support of the party at the
national level, saying that the visit was to also reaffirm the state’s
support for President Goodluck Jonathan to contest the 2015 general
elections.

While expressing confidence on the ability of the new PDP Chairman to
handle the affairs of the party, Governor Akpabio stressed the need for
effective grassroots campaign for the party to win.

The new PDP Chairman, Alhaji Mua’zu, who thanked the Governor and the PDP
stakeholders from Akwa Ibom for the solidarity visit, noted that the party
does not and would not anoint any candidate, assuring that the National
Secretariat would soon organise a conference to tell Nigerians what PDP
was all about.

Alhaji Mu’azu said with the release of the time table for the 2015 general
elections, what was important was for people to engage in effective
grassroots campaign at the appropriate time so that the PDP can show the
opposition that it can win at all levels.

Earlier, the state PDP Chairman, Obong Paul Ekpo had congratulated the new
PDP National Chairman, Alhaji Adamu Mua’zu on behalf of the party faithful
from the state.

Obong Ekpo informed the new PDP Chairman that the PDP in Akwa Ibom state
has been a shelter of peace and a symbol of unity, noting that the party is
crisis-proof in the state because the government and the PDP were working
together for the benefit of the people.

After the visit, the Governor and the stakeholders went into a closed-door
meeting with the national executive members of the PDP.
