Unknown gunmen had Tuesday struck in Nyanya, where they hijacked a bus reportedly belonging to Divine Kiddies Academy, a private school in the town.
The school authorities have since denied reports that any of its pupils was in the hijacked bus.
However, witnesses told Pointblanknews.com that they sighted a police helicopter hovering over several parts of Nasarawa where the abductors were believed to have relocated.
“The helicopter flew from Nyanya to as far Nasarawa town, Keffi, Akwanga and several other parts of Nasarawa State. The flight took several hours,” a source offered.
About an hour after the abduction, the police mounted a heavy checkpoint on at their Karu divisional headquarters’ end, New Nyanya, about Kilometre 18 on the Abuja-Keffi expressway.
As news of the abduction spread, anxious parents hurriedly withdrew their children from schools in Nyanya and surrounding towns
