This is not the best of times for the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Ado Bayero who has been bedridden since his return from London where he had gone to treat undisclosed ailment.
Though the Kano Emirate Council has been shielding the Emir’s health status in secrecy, the declaration by the authorities of the Emirate Council on Tuesday indicated that the Kano monarch is not strong enough to appear before the public.
According to Wamban Kano, , Alhaji Abbas Sanusi, the Emir was not considered medically fit to sustain the rigours of Durbar display during Sallah celebration popularly known as Hawan Nassarawa.
He stated that the action will not affect the Eid –fitr prayer, noting that it was necessary that, “the popular Hawan Nassarawa, Dushe and Dorayi, the Durbah and other ceremonial activities will be placed on hold.”
” The suspension of the festivities was due to the Emir of Kano’s health condition. We urge the Muslim Ummah to celebrate the Sallah in peace and use the occasion to visit friends and relatives,” Wamban Kano noted.
