All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate for Rivers State, Hon. Dakuku Peterside has raised the alarm on alleged plot to circulate cloned copies of his posters.
A statement by his Special Assistant on Media, Sylvester Asoya, said the motive was to cause disaffection between APC and the people of Rivers State.
The statement urged the people of the state to be wary of the “sinister plot by desperate politicians and mischief makers.”
The statement, with the title “Plot to circulate fake posters of Peterside uncovered,” read,
“Our attention has been drawn to a plot by some persons to clone the photograph of Dr. Dakuku Peterside, the All Progressives Congress, APC, governorship candidate in Rivers State and are about to print and paste these unauthorized posters purported to have emanated from the APC.
“This is aimed at causing disaffection between the APC and Rivers people.
“We know that Rivers people are discerning, yet it is important to alert the unsuspecting public of this sinister plot by desperate politicians and mischief makers.
“We therefore wish to use this medium to urge our people to discountenance this attempt to portray our candidate and our party in negative light; and warn those behind this malicious and despicable act to desist forthwith or be prepared to face the full wrath of the law.
“For the avoidance of doubt, let us state that we are determined to work with all Rivers people to take our state to greater heights. We are conscious of the fact that integrity and decency are the foundation of every political engagement and must be so.
We dissociate our party from this mischievous act.”
