Bayelsa State Governor, Hon. Seriake Dickson, on Monday called on the people of the state to turn out en masse and vote massively for President Goodluck Jonathan and all PDP candidates on the 28th of March and 11th of April, 2015 general elections, as the era of thuggery, violence and ballot box snatching in the state are over.
Governor Dickson, who made the call while addressing traditional rulers, chiefs, politicians and the people of the Nembe and Brass Local Government Areas, emphasized the importance of the PVC, which according to him, is the tool for the re-election of President Goodluck Jonathan and all PDP candidates.
The Governor, accompanied by his deputy, Gboribiogha John Jonah rtd, Secretary to the State Government, Professor Edmond Allison-Oguru, commissioners and PDP flag bearers, was on an ‘Operation show your PVC’ and sensitization tour of Brass and Nembe Local Government Areas of the state, ahead of the forthcoming general election.
“Today we are sensitizing our people to arm themselves with their PVCs, because this weekend is a decisive one, as we are going to the polls to elect our own, we are also here for operation show your PVC which is our weapon.”
The Governor, who also used the occasion to present, all the PDP candidates to the people, urged them to vote all the candidates as they will represent their interest and sustain the ongoing development in the areas.
In his words: “elect those who will work with me and Mr. President in Abuja to represent your interest; otherwise, your vote is a waste and we do not want such things to happen. Ignore anybody who tells you if he wins the election on another party, he will join PDP. Such a person is trying to enter through the window and he is a thief”
In his speech, the Deputy Governor, Gboribiogha Jonah rtd, commended Governor Dickson for the construction of the Nembe road, describing it as a dream come true, noting that, politics is all about human capital and infrastructural development, which the restoration administration has been doing.
In his remarks, the secretary of the Nembe Chiefs Council, Chief Howells Aburuku, who spoke on behalf of King Edmund Daukoru, Mingi the X11 of Nembe, expressed gratitude on behalf of the people to Governor Dickson for his development projects in the kingdom and appealed for the connection of Nembe to the Imiringi Gas Turbine and the completion of the Nembe – Brass road to boost socio-economic activities in the general area.
Speaking, when the Governor visited him in his Palace, the Amanyanabo of Twon-Brass and Chairman Bayelsa State Council of Traditional Rulers, King Alfred Diete-Spiff, gave an assurance, that the people of the kingdom will vote massively for President Goodluck Jonathan and all PDP candidates, as he equally appealed to the governor to undertake the Twon-Brass shore protection project, pointing out that, the Island was under serious threat from ocean surge.
In their separate remarks, the acting State Chairman of the PDP, Chief Serena Dokubo-Spiff and the Chairmen of Brass and Nembe Local Government Councils, Barrister Andy Obed and Bighoemi Emina assured that, PDP will emerge victorious in the forthcoming election, as the party was fully on the ground and unbeatable, adding that the number of PVCs collected is very high and will deliver one hundred percent of the votes to the party.
Governor Dickson also laid the foundation stone for the construction of spectators’ pavilion at the Twon-Brass mini sports stadium.
