Sanusi Urges Nigerians To Support Buhari’s Fight Against Boko Haram

The Emir of Kano, Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi II has called on Nigerians to
support the efforts of President Muhammadu Buhari at fighting insurgency
to sustain peace in the country.

He made the call on Friday while addressing the residents of Kano the Eid
el-Fitr prayer at the Kano Central Mosque.

He said that Nigerians needed peace in the country to fulfil the purpose
of God in creating them together with diverse backgrounds.

“These religious, ethnic and cultural differences among others should
further unite and not divide Nigerians’’, he said.

He also called on the residents of Kano to always live by the dictates of
Islam and avoid sinful acts that could earn them the wrath of God.

Sanusi called on Muslims to pray for sustenance of peace and stability in
the state and country not only during fasting.

He called on them to be law-abiding and live peacefully with one another
for the development of the state.

In a related development, Alhaji Abubakar Yabo, the Secretary of Aliyu
Magatakarda Advocacy Group, observed that the activities of insurgents
posed a threat to peace and unity of the country.

He, therefore, solicited fervent prayers to expose those behind insurgency
activities in the country.

He told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) shortly after the Eid prayer in
Kano that Nigerians ought to pray hard to end activities of Boko Haram.

“We must assist the Federal Government to fight against insurgency through
intelligence reports on happenings in our locality,’’ he said.

He said that prompt reports on suspected miscreants in the society would
enable the security officers to deal with any security threat.

He, nonetheless, advised the Federal Government to provide sophisticated
weapons to the security agencies to enable them to confront the
insurgents.

He said that provision of state-of-the-art equipment would also stimulate
the security agencies to tackling the insurgency activities effectively.

Yabo called on traditional and religious leaders to sensitise the people
to the need to be security conscious all the time.(NAN)
